The Swiss international bolstered City's defence following relegation to League One, arriving from Blackburn Rovers and also amidst reported interest from Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest. He was key that season, helping City to promotion in just his first year. He was important to City's defence the following season, back in the Championship, something that was underlined when he picked up an injury mid-way through the campaign and the Foxes failed to keep a clean sheet in seven matches.
The former Basel FC left-back revealed his frustration of a lack of first-team action following the loan arrival of Greg Cunningham from Manchester City and seemed keen on leaving to get regular first-team football in the January transfer window of 2011. But following Cunningham's departure he enjoyed a return to the first team and penned a new one-year deal with the club in January.
