Making three league appearances for the Foxes in a year-and-a-half spell, Edwards arrived at Filbert Street in December 1930 after impressing at his first club, Bradbury's FC (Hinckley).

Playing at right-half, Stockingford-born Edwards had two trials before signing on professionally. He never made a first-team appearance on home soil, with all his outings in a City shirt coming away from home. His first was a hugely forgettable one, being part of the side that lost 6-0 at Blackburn Rovers.

When his time at Leicester came to an end Edwards was signed by Folkestone and he was part of a successful FA Cup run for the for the south coast side. His form there helped him secure a move back to League football with Crystal Palace, but a serious injury hindered his progress at Selhurst Park - he was sidelined for the entire 1934-35 season.

Edwards eventually found his way back to Leicestershire with Hinckley United, where he ended his career - not in the best of manners when he walked out on the club. He was a guest player briefly for Reading during World War 2.
