Clark's career came to an end at Leicester after a career spent at clubs such as Bristol clubs City and Rovers and Sunderland. The Scottish winger signed in August 1911 and made his debut the following month at Gainsborough Trinity. He made only six appearances for the club, however, scoring one goal along the way.
His time in Leicester was spent mainly as a deputy to Tommy Benfield, something which restricted his appearances. He spent time in the top flight with both Sunderland and Bristol City, although he suffered relegation with the latter, and he was twice chosen to play in Anglo-Scots v Home Scots international matches.
Clark's time spent in Bristol meant he returned there when his footballing career came to an end, running a couple of pubs in the area.
