  2. Thanks for giving so much credit to the incredible squads and backroom staff who helped make what happened happen. "No one else," eh. So wonderfully disrespectful to the players and team who did all the hard work in achieving what we did. Why am I having to explain this to you? This is the key post in the whole debate for me. This thread has shades, huge shades, of the thread about the declaration towards the Thai King before Chelsea back in May. The hounding of anyone who questions it, the complete overreaction that "OH MAKE EVERYTHING FREE" that people scoff. It's a genuine co

  3. Bale has been a success at Real by almost any metric. He's a phenomenal player, he's contributed goals and assists, scored in important games, has at times looked like a rare shining light even the team collectively have been shit. But from the moment he arrived he's been assassinated by Marca for being Perez' golden boy and Marca hate Perez. Whenever they've fallen out, then first thing they've done is put the boot in on Bale. Madrid is like Liverpool and United in this country, they've a huge bunch of extremely partisan, passionate but fundamentally ret

  4. No one asks for them. And they are only 'free' to fans who have bought a match ticket - the club still has to pay for them. Much like it pays someone to print the clappers which as far as I'm aware no one asked for either. I've been attending a large majority of home & away fixtures for years and I've never wanted/eaten/kept any of the free stuff they've put on, which tends to be just a load of useless tat or low-grade food/beer I don't really want anyway. Free away travel or simply reducing the price of match tickets would help a greater number of fans, but evident

  5. Some people will always bang on about his past but he's been a proper professional here and I think he's probably grown a lot as a person. Everyone deserves a second chance, imo. Simpson properly took his and made the most of it.

  7. Yeah, I don’t think anyone would argue he’s not past his best (he’s 78, after all) but to dismiss him as a fraudster and diss his songwriting ability as Saxondale did, is astonishing. He is nothing less than a legend.

  8. https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/brendan-rodgers-explains-how-leicester-3116933 Shows he doesn’t only have talent and ability, but a mature head on young shoulders, putting his football first ahead of silly money. We have a proper player with a great attitude. One of the best signings we’ve made in my time

  10. Completely agree. We've basically added Perez to the starting line up which finished last season. Everyone doubting Man utd and Arsenal need to realise we finished quite a long way behind them last season. Not saying it isn't possible to finish top 6 but top 4 is unlikely. There will be pressure on the squad to perfom this season where there hasn't been so much in previous years. How we deal with that will be key as will the start to the season. A couple of early defeats will dent confidence and belief.

  15. I've been watching City for something like fifty years now and I've seen hundreds of players come and go, but there's been a bare handful as reliable as Mark Albrighton. He always gives his best, even when he's not at his best, never moans when he's dropped, just knuckles down and works hard to get back into the side. When we look back on the 2016 legends, it will be Vardy, Mahrez and Kanté who will first come to mind, but MA is every bit the legend that they are. He is a consummate professional.

  17. There's significant development on the west side, Great Central station has gone from being disused to becoming a bowling alley, cafe's, bars etc. There's going to be a hotel built where Liquid is now. New Walk is stunning, the lanes are great and the Guildhall/Jubilee/Cathedral area is lovely now. There's a lot of history in our city centre - more so than a lot of places but we don't always do a great job of showing it. This forum details the developments https://www.skyscrapercity.com/forumdisplay.php?f=4374 I'm under no illusion it's the greatest city in the world bu

  19. Need to dampen down some of the hype. No point ramping up the expectation level too much. Part of Rodgers job is to raise the players expectations, the fans job is to encourage those players to hit those heights especially when we hit the inevitable rocky moments.

  24. They're more than rumours tbqh it's about 99.99% fact, they were pro Chinese triads beating the shit out anything that moved. Videos all over reddit, it's ugly af. Real shame. Absolute beautiful city, love the place, sad to see it full more and more under Chinese influence. It was probably naive to hope the Chinese would back off and truly give it the autonomy they promised forever.

Fifty years since I watched us lose another cup final at Wembley, the third in eight years so I too along with Stoopid would love us to put everything into winning this before I shuffle off this mortal coil ! Please Brendan make winning the F A cup our priority along with Premier long term safety.

  35. Some of the comments on here are beyond embarrassing! We’ve played two preseason friendlies and already half the squad are shit and not up to Premier League standards... whatever that means. It’s preseason its about fitness levels it is about getting match Sharp again, so please don’t criticise players for not being match hardened and making small errors.

  41. I’m pissed up right now but it honestly feels a bit Orwellian the extent that people defend the club. Even if this scheme earned the club £1m (likely 10x the actual amount) over the course of the season is it worth it to fleece the fanbase? Season tickets have been frozen - but if you want to suggest you care about the fans you don’t charge them for firing up the Hewlett Packard at home. Football is more of a business than it’s ever been but it football still remains somewhat of a social institution. There’s not the same obligation to generate profits for shareholders as a run of
