  1. I feel this deserves a discussion on the main forum Norwich / spurs and Newcastle have now all cut the wages of all NON-playing staff a league that generates billions every year cannot and should not be asking near minimum wage staff to take a pay cut while multi millionaire playboys on the playing staff receive bonuses for games that will not or have not been played ! I would like our club to guarantee our non-playing staff will not suffer like this given our excellent financial position, and I’d love to see a league wide boycott of any team that does cut

  2. As my understanding is, if it's through furlough then the club aren't giving them a 20% pay cut. They are giving them a 100% pay cut and the government (i.e. the taxpayer) is paying 80% of the wages. Shouldn't be happening when the clubs are getting £160m+ every year from domestic TV money alone. So after all this is done, on top of ALL the damage to the rest of the economy, the taxpayers are also effectively left paying millions to Spurs staff etc while Levy gives himself a £3m bonus for stadium completion (a year late). It's fvcking disgusting. I really hope our owners don't go d

  5. That would make me feel better Swanie but it’s not happening, Barcelona players have agreed to a 3 month 70% pay cut so that the non-playing staff don’t lose jobs or money But here in greedy premier league land we hear nothing , I can’t hero worship (and we all hero worship) a man on £150k a week knowing he did little or nothing to support his lower payed colleagues at his workplace I feel really disheartened I have continued paying my staff and will do for next 6 months at least while at the same time only drawing enough for my bills and foo

  8. Although it will never happen, it would be nice if this crisis somehow reset top tier wages to a more sensible rate. No one needs £100k+ a week. That sort of dough could keep local charities going for months. We will almost certainly lose lower league teams without the financial clout to weather this storm. At least we have thick cvnts like Grealish getting fined and the proceeds going to the local NHS trust.

  10. Another day, another mental shitstorm. Its hard to describe it to anyone who hasn't worked in an ICU before, but all I can say is that it's a ****ing warzone. It still doesnt seem real, like everything is a movie or a dream and you'll wake up soon, it's that surreal. None of us ever thought it could be like this.

  11. The figures are all over the place; The number of cases we find is dependent on how many people we test. We don't have any reliable figures other than deaths, and even that is not 100% comparable to other countries, or how we have reporting say Flu deaths in the past. Some things are clear though - if we dont start testing serious numbers of NHS workers, we are going to run out of them. If the Government don't start credibly answering on how many ventilators we have they will continue to look like ****ing idiots.

  12. If I was a premier league footballer I would absolutely take a cut to pay the people that wash and prepare all my kit, make my meals at the stadium and training ground, prepare the pitch, do my physio and basically make sure I have everything I need on a daily basis! I couldn't look them in the eye. I hope the twitter chat is true that a group of our players are going to do this. I would be very disappointed if they didnt.

  14. But the opposite of conspiracy theorists is not to blindly believe what a load of politicians tell me or the tabloids or Facebook? It is reasoned understanding. For example, I don’t believe in climate change because Arnie tells me I should or the minister for the environment. I believe in it because 99% of scientists believe it to be true and all available data points that way. I feel like the “don’t believe what you’re told by the man” argument spouted by a lot of people prone to believing in conspiracies is a strawman and a dishonest argument. It’s about reasoned, critical debate and deep un

  15. Harsh The post acknowledges that there are people much worse off than us, but it's understandable that people are disappointed to miss out on things they have planned. We plan these things because they make us happy, and we want to do them. I'm sure you have done some if the things mentioned during your life. It's very sad that people are dying from this, and it puts a holiday or a party being put on hold into perspective, but that doesn't mean you still can't be disappointed in missing out on those things. You've always seems liked a level headed poster, but gotta say

  16. One upshot is that my university have implemented a safety net policy for final year exams, meaning you can’t drop below your second year classification - providing I pass my (now online) exams - 50% of which is coursework - I will be graduating with a first! Not sure it makes up for missing the final term of uni and all of the celebrations but it takes a lot of pressure off and it’s one good outcome from an awful situation. Maybe only good news for me 😀

  21. Third season with Botev Plovdiv, managed to steer them out of a Champions League group containing Juve and United (who for some reason are obscene on my save). Winter break now, drew PSG in the round of 16 - they're in for a royal dicking, baby! Managed to placate the odd unsettled star without any fuss, got an Ivorian teen at centre half who's the absolute bollocks, rotate him with my pair of academy graduates for the two spots and they're all coming on well. Signed some Nigerian CM who was a bit of a buy cheap, sell high purchase at first, nothing remarkable, but played him due to fixtu

  23. My understanding (as an accountancy practice owner where we prepare payroll for clients), is that there already is. (Or at least the rules that allow for it) The legislation states that these people would have lost their jobs otherwise. A premier league football club is not going to have to make everyone redundant and start again in 3 months (which is all that it is legislated for at this point). It's not like coca cola doing it for their hundreds of thousands of staff. My clients, (and the vast majority of businesses in this country, large or small) with zero income othe

  24. I hope everyone is doing ok emotionally. I know it's incredibly difficult at the moment and there's a lot of reasons to worry, especially for some more than others, but there is hope and we will be out of this before you know it. Everyday we get further into this pandemic is an extra day of acquired knowledge and an extra day towards an exit. Please don't bottle stuff up, the likelihood is that others are experiencing very similar emotions to you! Lots of love fellow foxes and football fans!

  28. Headline grabbing figures, but how many new cases? The death rate will probably rise in line with the fact the new case rate was rising a week ago. The last few days the new case rate has stabilised, so I expect this time next week the death rate to do the same. And as new cases drop, the death rate will too. It's extremely sad people are dying but we really need to stop using that number as any kind of marker, it's largely irrelevant in the judgement of how we are battling this crisis. Obviously not irrelevant that people are dying, before anyone jumps on that.

  32. Surprised we’re on page 2 and I’ve not seen no mention of Kasper yet. He gets some proper underserved stick sometimes. Yes his distribution can be abit iffy sometimes and he’s not the most amazing keeper at dealing with crosses but he doesn’t really make mistakes that costs us goals- compare that to the likes of Lloris who pundits consider world class I’d rather have Kasper any day of the week. We’re lucky to have had him for so long.

  37. Next week was due to be my other half's first holiday with his children since he separated from his wife nearly two years ago. It also would have been their first holiday with me and my children too, and their only holiday in that whole time. Now obviously it's not happening, and in fact we don't even know when we will see them again. Our holidays in May and August probably won't happen either. We were also hoping to get married in June, so we're disappointed about that too, and my sixteen year old son has effectively left school but without any of the usual fanfare.

  39. You can always look and say that there are people worse off. What we are experiencing in developed countries at the moment doesn't even begin to compare to what will be experienced in developing countries that don't have the same level of health care or infrastructure that we do, and equally they could look at us and say we haven't got a clue. But to be honest having for the past 8 years worked a demanding full time job, then had to have the discipline to work my evenings and weekends (researching into an area which has actually had quite a significant impact on people's lives, so benefiting o

  42. Jeff. He was touted as the next big thing when he was coming through. He had a very good loan spell away from the club came back scoring a hat-trick on his debut and even had a trial at Man Utd in his early days with us. It turned out he was never good enough to break through as a striker or a left-back for us though and ended up more often than not on the left wing. He scored a very important goal in the away fixture against Norwich in the title-winning season and he did play his part in that campaign, deserving his winner's medal. However, he
