  1. 3 days at work, day off today, back tomorrow. 95% of the calls mentioned Covid19 as a possibility, people calling 111 with difficulty breathing as a new problem, 111 not suggesting that they self isolate even though I'm sure they have an algorithm that they use to question callers about their symptoms but they will always err on the side of caution and send us for face to face assessment. Of the 24 patients I've been to 11 had the proper signs and symptoms of Covid19 and with no other underlying issues, were advised to self isolate etc, etc. 2 others had other illnesses such as asthma and they

  2. Self Isolation Just seen a news report about the stresses and strains of self isolation. It reported that people are going crazy from being in lock down! It was strange, actually, because I had just been talking about this with the microwave and toaster and all of us agreed that things are getting bad. I didn't mention anything to the washing machine as she always has to put a different spin on everything, and certainly not to the fridge as he is acting cold and distant. In the end the iron calmed me down. She said everything will be fine, which surprised me because she’s usually the first

  3. Another day, another mental shitstorm. Its hard to describe it to anyone who hasn't worked in an ICU before, but all I can say is that it's a ****ing warzone. It still doesnt seem real, like everything is a movie or a dream and you'll wake up soon, it's that surreal. None of us ever thought it could be like this.

  4. I feel this deserves a discussion on the main forum Norwich / spurs and Newcastle have now all cut the wages of all NON-playing staff a league that generates billions every year cannot and should not be asking near minimum wage staff to take a pay cut while multi millionaire playboys on the playing staff receive bonuses for games that will not or have not been played ! I would like our club to guarantee our non-playing staff will not suffer like this given our excellent financial position, and I’d love to see a league wide boycott of any team that does cut

  5. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52120419 Leicester City 3 Everton 1 - The King Power Stadium, 7 May 2016 Not the game but the occasion. This was a spine-tingling day, the climax of one of the greatest stories British sport has ever known as the Foxes, 5,000-1 and relegation favourites before the start of the season (I tipped them to go down), won the title under their charismatic and popular manager Claudio Ranieri. It was the day the trophy was presented amid scenes of pure theatre at The King Power Stadium. Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli, blind since the age

  6. There's no point in speculating. Despite the sad present data analysis of these recent figures, comments like this will just make people panic to be honest. This may well be the peak, or close to it, of the worst (hopefully) - and all we can do is to follow the government's guidance on this outbreak situation.

  7. Because social media of course isn't at all full of all manner of agenda driven junk conspiracy theory, clickbait cherry-picked confirmation bias, baseless woo, quote mining and self-referencing pseudoscience perpetrated by charlatans, mountebanks, con artists, quacktitioners and snake oil salesmen. It isn't necessarily about faith in politicians, MSM or social media, it's about the ability to embrace independent verification and objectivity which so many lack. Invariably the subscribers to this nonsense are scientific illiterates compensating through an evening on You Tube believing a three l

  9. I suppose it was always going to happen somewhere in the football league, I would imagine a few clubs live hand to mouth but for Tottenham Hotspur to ask the taxpayer to subsidize the wages less than 1 month into the season being suspended, we are talking about a club with a billionaire owner living in the Bahamas to avoid paying tax, a chief executive who received a massive bonus to deliver a stadium 10 months late, a club whoose average wage for the playing is £76'000 aweek and the signed a player for £54 million last summer, one for £24 million in January, the furlong was bought in by the g

  10. I understand what you are saying and I have watched the video in full but I just can't get behind it. I am not usually a fan of ad hominem arguments but David Icke genuinely believes in Lizard people, is a climate change denier and he's been craving something like this for a long time. As I said, that doesn't mean he is wrong in the coronavirus case but his history of beliefs should certainly be taken into account when listening to him speak about a subject. He has also shifted his terminology of the "elite" and now calls it the 1%. Like religion, his words and descriptors tend to shift wi

  11. The best game i've seen was the 5-3 against Man United.. Pure footballing brilliance shown by both sides at times as well as both sides showing they couldn't defend for toffee. The game when Jamie Vardy introduced himself on the world stage. Close runner up was 2-0 against Sevilla. The atmosphere, the pantomime drama, the "**** sake we're out" of the penalty being awarded, the massive noise when Albrighton slapped home that volley, the celebrations after. That's the sort of game you live for as a football fan.

  12. They really need to cut out the spin and provide clear, honest information. This started more than a week ago: - Hancock claimed that we had access to 12,000 ventilators but firms like Dyson & RR were working on providing a lot more - The NHS stated that we actually had 8,000....but that more were on order from regular suppliers (which Hancock had presumably included in his figure) The figure doesn't matter to uninformed punters like us (obviously it does matter to those on the front-line). But trust does matter at a time like this. Nobody reasonable

  14. Pay cuts!!.. They're all multi millionaires. Stopping their pay completely for 3 months is hardly going to put any of them in financial hardship is it ? Perhaps one of their many supercars may have to go? FFS they should be volunteering for this to happen!!

  15. I'm not sure waiting every day for the latest death figures like we're watching soccer Saturday is helping mine or anyones mental health. I get importance in making sure people realise how serious it is currently but think I'm going to try and avoid these daily updates the best I can. I don't know how many people die every day, for whatever reason, but its just something you never think about. Over 500 in 24 hours just seems ridiculous.

  17. Spot on Wymesy. We have no idea how this will go, and speculating isn't going to help. We just have to keep up with the partial lockdown measures and the social distancing, and see where it takes us. Easy to forget that these figures are likely to be relating to people who have picked up the virus pre lockdown, so lets see where we are next week and the week after. It's way to early to predict and let yourself get down about it.

  20. This is some stellar propaganda lads, not as great as Trump yesterday claiming he 'inherited bad tests' from Obama for a virus that didn't exist until 3 years after he left office, but still pretty good, so apologies for raining on your parade when you're having so much fun but being on lock down allowed me the few seconds it takes to find the context behind that tweet: So basically some randomer quoted scripture at her accusing her of being an adulterous slut and she's highlighted that person's hypocrisy by pointing out that the same book harshly forbids making baseless accusation o

  21. Mark Draper - a diamond in a team of cloggers. He was only here a year but all I remember about him was absolutely running the show every time he played. I remember when we played Tottenham at Filbert Street and got a rare win for that season. Jurgen Klinsmann said "I've never heard of Mark Draper before but there he was running the game like a young Lothar Matteus. When Klinsmann left that season he recommended Draper to Bayern Munich. Sadly for Draper he never hit the heights in the rest of his career that he did with Leicester but he is one of the best players I've e

  23. As my understanding is, if it's through furlough then the club aren't giving them a 20% pay cut. They are giving them a 100% pay cut and the government (i.e. the taxpayer) is paying 80% of the wages. Shouldn't be happening when the clubs are getting £160m+ every year from domestic TV money alone. So after all this is done, on top of ALL the damage to the rest of the economy, the taxpayers are also effectively left paying millions to Spurs staff etc while Levy gives himself a £3m bonus for stadium completion (a year late). It's fvcking disgusting. I really hope our owners don't go d

No turf yet though on the most easterly pitches and the golf course looks like it will be a side project for when the main facility is done... I know they had issues with Tarmac deliveries this week as it was deemed non essential work ... Assume they got around that.

Then did my marathon training (but no race) before getting 21:20 in a time trial last week. Once I get my mojo back to do some specific 5k training I'll be doing a lot more speedwork and hoping to get sub-20 at some point over the summer... Fingers crossed

  32. For non playing staff I don't see the issue. How is football different from other profitable industries whose whole market has been essentially closed by the government - hotels, airlines, pubs. That's exactly what the government scheme is there for. Football clubs aren't non eligible for it just because some of their players are on big money. Easyjet are using the scheme, and Stelios is clearly not claiming the money himself. TopShop and Arcadia are using the furlough scheme too, but their highest paid staff (Philip Green etc) will still get paid.

I think if I were self employed right now I would be taking amortgage holiday, talking to the council to defer council tax payments until June (most will let you pay over 9 months) cancelling everything possible to keep as much cash on hand as possible while considering applying for a job in a retailer.

If I was a premier league footballer I would absolutely take a cut to pay the people that wash and prepare all my kit, make my meals at the stadium and training ground, prepare the pitch, do my physio and basically make sure I have everything I need on a daily basis! I couldn't look them in the eye. I hope the twitter chat is true that a group of our players are going to do this. I would be very disappointed if they didnt.

That would make me feel better Swanie but it’s not happening, Barcelona players have agreed to a 3 month 70% pay cut so that the non-playing staff don’t lose jobs or money But here in greedy premier league land we hear nothing , I can’t hero worship (and we all hero worship) a man on £150k a week knowing he did little or nothing to support his lower payed colleagues at his workplace I feel really disheartened I have continued paying my staff and will do for next 6 months at least while at the same time only drawing enough for my bills and foo
