  1. At the beginning of the season if you were offered top 6 we all would have taken it, if they also said you would play some sublime football and break a record for most goals scored in a game you would have taken it. For Brendan to come in and complete his long term project in 1 year and even before the season has ended is a feat worth applauding. We went toe to toe with Liverpool and Man city before the difference in available transfer money shone to light, which is out of our hands really. We have been without our player of the year and the best right back in the league for a while now

  2. It's a big summer for us now. We can either sulk until the squad gets rid of the best manager we've had in ages (like Spurs did this year) or we can take a good look in the mirror and come back stronger next season (like we did after the Deeney goal). You'd like to think the squad would be absolutely raging with the way the second half of the season has gone. Everyone will be a year older and a little wiser. Players like Maddison, Chilwell, Iheanacho, Ndidi, Tielemans, Barnes, Gray and Soyuncu are all young but they're approaching the age where they ought to

  3. 1-0 Leicester 93rd minute, we need one more to get top 4 and we've got a corner. Kasper sprints up the pitch and produces a diving header into the top corner. The Leicester fans around the world go into delirium But wait....... VAR is checking the goal........ Goal disallowed due to handball in 53rd minute by James Justin. Pundits after the game don't even mention it

  4. There is no strong case for this whatsoever. Absolutely deluded comment. We had a club (and fanbase) which had turned completely toxic. We were 12th when he was sacked (18 points off fifth, 19 off fourth) and we're fourth now, possibly finishing fifth. We have had a shocking collapse since mid December yes (and BR deserves his share of blame) but we're miles ahead of the Puel era, probably further ahead then we should've expected. Agreed. For all of BR's faults, he's improved the club massively since he joined, notwithstanding the poor stuff in recent months.

  5. A measured post. Yes fifth is our second highest finish but its the manner of the deflation that takes a lot of the shine off of it. I don't want BR to leave at all but I he needs to be spoken with. I think there's a degree of hubris about him of late that needs addressing. Blaming Iheanacho for what was definitely his poor tactics and the like is entirely 'Brand Brendan' and not what I can respect in a man. He was using one of his employees as a scape goat for his own poor decision making. All the talent he has got in management is going to be compromise

  6. I'd have thought the general consensus is that the current lot are a "better" squad that are being mismanaged, subsequently missing out on a huge opportunity, and that leads to greater frustration over a group of blokes leaving everything on the pitch. I was only a kid (1990 born) when the O'Neill side were at their peak but he squeezed everything he could out of those players and surely that resonates with fans regardless of results? I can't remember a time under Rodgers (there might well be one) where we've lost but absolutely thrown the ****ing kitchen sink at someone.

Serie A: Roma Napoli/Milan La Liga Villareal Real Sociedad Bundesliga Bayer Leverkusen Hoffeinheim Ligue 1 Lille not to mention the teams that will drop out of the champions league group stages. Let’s go for this tournament next year!

  13. Taking our finishing position out of it, hardly any fan in the league would be happy watching their team in the sort of form we've had since mid December. Delighted with European football but its hardly surprising that people aren't too optimistic for next season when we can't address our failings

  17. I was baptised as a Catholic as a kid, but later gave up on religion. There were many, many reasons why I gave it up but one will always stick with me. I am mixed race, my mother is half Polish / half Ukrainian and my father is Indian. My mother is a practising Catholic and my father when he was alive a practising Hindu. One day at Saturday school as part of our teachings, the Priest told us that only Catholics go to heaven. So of course I put my hand up and asked him "what about my dad, will he go to heaven?" Cue the priest getting super awkward as a curious kid asks him this question in fron

  18. 10 years ago I was a raging atheist, I read the new atheists and was full of hope that religion could be argued away. I would provoke discussions with the religious in order to be able to criticise them and their beliefs. I’ve calmed it a bit since. Whatever blows your hair back, and all that... I’m still very much deity-less myself and I think it’s a ridiculous proposition that the creator of the cosmos, with its hundred billion plus galaxies and in the vastness of space and time, would care very much about how humans love each other or dress, or what they eat on F

  19. Some balance here and I don't mean "you'd have taken 5th at the start of the season". His hands were tied into picking that team yesterday. What options did we have? Ricardo, Maddison, Chilwell and Soyuncu are four vitally important players. Add to that his second choice wing-backs in Fuchs and Albrighton were also out and we were left with a cart-horse back three and two extremely inexperienced wing-backs. He took a gamble and it didn't work, but drawing to Spurs wasn't much better than losing as we'd still need to beat United on the last day to get 4th. I thought we played ok an

  20. We live on a spec in the cosmos. It would take over 80 000 years to travel to the nearest star, and there are stars 100 times bigger than our own sun. For people to think there is a heaven, hell, or to think their God is real over the thousands of other gods invented over the course of human existence is just hilarious to me. People's brains needs to protect themselves from a fear of death and not existing, which I get.

  21. He made a couple of mistakes but he will learn from them. I'm fairly certain there's not many players in the u23s who are as clinical as Kane so he'll soon realise mistakes at senior level get punished more often than not. What impresses me about him is his eye for a pass! Even when crossing he looks to pick out a man and has shown he can cross the ball in a range of different ways. That is something Chilwell lacks even after a couple of seasons at first team level. Also his link up play is impressive. He plays the forward positive passes more often than not.

  23. Its a multi-billion pound business empire. It was built on duty-free which will take a hit but they'll absolutely have other assets which supplement the income. Even if it was struggling, they've gone to great pains to make the footballing side of the club as self-sufficient as possible. Cash injections for things like the training ground and possible stadium expansion (which may well be put on hold), but otherwise our transfer budget comes from TV/prize money and player sales. We'll be fine.

  24. He seems okay until someone runs at him 1 on 1? Is this something you noticed? How the hell did he survive training with Traore? My biggest complaint is that he’s way too tall to tuck his shirt into his shorts and pull them up high. Looks like an oversized baby being put in his first kit.

  26. Religion is a made up tool used to control the masses and to give people a common direction in mass manipulation, christianity is the worst of the lot, no child born needs to repent for their sins, so why have baptism forced on them to be accepted into the house of the Lord. The universe expands and then contracts until everything becomes a central mass which causes it to explode again, like a massive 3d yoyo

  28. First half of the season was a big positive, second half of the season has been a huge negative. As I debated argued with some fans yesterday, you just can’t brush our form since Christmas under the carpet, all because we’ve secured European Football. We have a young talented squad, no doubt about that but we need to start delivering consistently. Questions need to be asked how we went from 2nd and having a 14 point gap, to potentially 5th and failing to get Champions League football. This has been a season with positives that equally weigh with negatives.

  29. Talk of Rodgers being sacked is nonsense. I am as unhappy with the way things are as the next guy, but Brendan has turned things around since he arrived. He in my opinion has squeezed this lemon as much as he can for this season, and we're guaranteed European football next season. I'd rather it be CL, but it is what it is. There seems to be clear stability, even with a depleted squad we are still more of a match for most teams around us bar the odd bad result. I think it is frankly unacceptable the form we have been on, but again, it is what it is and if we learn from this and hav

  30. I think undoubtedly, to be without Ricardo, Chilwell and Soyuncu has to have been a big problem. However, it's also problematic to play an unfamiliar back three system with unfamiliar players. Sheffield United didn't have a great or even mobile goal threat so it wasn't such an issue against them. Last season we saw that Evans and Morgan were competent in a back four together even with lack of pace, I think strangley, even the stats showed less goals conceded than when Maguire was present but that isn’t always the full story in fairness. Personally, with those exper

  31. We would never have won the title under Pearson, not a chance. He and his backroom staff done alot of good things at our club, getting us out of League one at the first attempt, (bizzarely one of my favourite seasons, proper football fans in that league) and eventually getting us to the premier league, and also the recruitment headed by Steve Walsh was instrumental in all of that, as well as setting up the foundation for our title season, but as a manager he could be too stubborn and too cautious at times. During the great escape season, he was forever going on about how we "have to

  34. GAMBLERS ANONYMOUS I have heard stories like this so many times, my story was one of them. I was at the end of my tether, I tried various blockers and obstacles to take the responsibility out of me trying to abstain from gambling. Let's be brutally honest, if we want to have a bet we will have a bet, blockers are great but there's always got to be that desire and ability to not finds ways around it. I have all the known blocks in place but if suddenly I wake up and want to gamble I could quite easily find a way to do that and although that is so soul destroying to be aware of when

  35. Two points; firstly that what if the universe is expanding then suddenly contracts down to atom size and again, then expands etc. This is the view Prof Brian Cox has, seems logical to me, as space isn't actually expanding, it is believed to just be stretching. Think of a rubber band expanding then suddenly snapping back. This would make this a cycle and just just a singular event. Thus not needing a 'god' to start it. Secondly, you can have group hallucinations if you're all tripping on LSD/mushrooms etc. If there was one god, then why does every religion claims theirs

  38. Imagine if Man City had taken this approach when they made the leap from being a terrible premier league team. I wouldn’t sack him yet but this view, in my opinion, is that sort that sees the club never progress. 90% of our fans at the start of the season looked our our squad and said it’s better than Chelsea, it’s better than United, it’s better than Arsenal and it’s better than Spurs. That says that 3rd/4th place is about Par. For us to blow a 15 point lead over some of them teams, while for the most part we didn’t have injuries, is woeful. I wouldn’t at all be shocke

Yes he made a couple of errors but he’s also stepped up and done his best . Some of his crosses and passes were quite refreshing to see compared to a Chilwell run forward down a blind ally then slow the play down and pass backwards .

  43. The meltdown over not finishing 4th is an absolute shambles and everything that's wrong with football. It doesnt mean anything - a 4th place trophy and the difference between being shafted 4-0 in Barcelona on weds evening or playing Thursday night in Stockholm isn't really an issue. The travesty in all this is Arsenal could end up holding a trophy something that actually matters instead us and we'll end up lamenting missing out on pot 4. Couldn't give a toss, football is about winning things, the season was ****ed when we surrendered at villa park.
