  1. I've got to be honest, I'm pretty much the last person in the world to buy conspiracy theories. I'm so intensely cynical by nature that I end up distrusting everything but particularly the sort of beardy weirdos that pedal that shit. I'm sure EL Empty and Zingari are currently off somewhere all over social media ranting against 5G and that shit isn't for me. But sooner or later that sort of cynicism comes 360 and points back around at the established order too. We live in a world where major corporations left, right and centre are being exposed for fraudulent, profite

  2. By all means correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think anyone is seriously suggesting a full blown conspiracy with money changing hands. Man Utd do get a massive amount of penalties, though, many of them debatable. It's not just people in here pointing it out. "Penchester United" was trending on Twitter during the game. Some of it will be because Manchester United have more rapid players than most teams, who advance on goal quickly and overwhelm defenders. Some of it will be because their bunch of utterly entitled overpaid spolit p

  4. This season it was weak. Liverpool are a very good team but they had it way too easy for a lot of it. So few proper challenging grounds for them to go to. I'm discounting late season as well as they'd already won it. I think the fact it was the media darlings Liverpool's first title in many a year is why nobody in the media will say it. It doesn't surprise me though - when you look through the leagues best teams, what do you actually have this year? Manchester City had a bit of an off season. Manchester United were poor for a lot of the season. have a manager out of his

  8. So is the Premier League. Sure, our title was fantastic but it was an anomaly. The PL is becoming just as boring as those. In the last three seasons, the league winners have finished on 100, 97 and 99 points. That's not competitive. It's a myth that smaller clubs can't win a game against Barcelona and Real Madrid. How boring is it when you see that Man City are 5-0 up at home to Burnley/Brighton every year? Also if the Premier League is so great, why does it never attract world stars at their prime?

  9. 15 weeks off school. Slightly more than a 'month or so'. Plus of course 7 weeks summer holiday. 5 months of no education. That's not on. I repeat a point I've made, one way or another, these last few months. Children's education (particularly vulnerable kids) Hundreds of billions of quid borrowed An almost total destruction of some industries and massive damage to most of the surviving economy. Huge unemployment Civil liberties, freedom of travel, leisure activities and.personal privacy totally bulldozed. ...all for a virus that gener

  10. I worked in HE for over a decade as a SL and External Examiner in 4 different HE establishments. It’s not as tricky as I suspected either to get the right measure of grades but sometimes, and with experience it does take a second look or read to ensure ones prejudices or personal bias haven’t influenced the grade. By prejudices I mean a range of variables, such as knowing the student has worked hard - gets it but maybe hasn’t actually demonstrated it in their assessment at a certain level of study or also knowing the personal difficulties a student has faced and reflecting on not h

  15. Think the same thing could be said about Marcos Rashford's introduction at ManUre....and that didnt work out too badly! Sometimes it takes a lucky break to force coaches to give young players a chance and then realise that for some, the step up through the glass ceiling is not as big as folk would have you believe

  17. Even if you remove the title win and say we finished 4th or 5th, they have put together a plan that has seen us finish top 5 twice within 5 seasons and no other club outside the big clubs has got anywhere near that. They've created a model and put together the staff that seems us recruit better than any other club around us, so much so we are constantly targeted by the very clubs we have embarrassed by winning the league and very nearly embarrassed again in finishing in the Champions League places. I have no criticism of our owners, add in they genuinely care about our community an

  19. i have worked in HE for ages now. Before I started teaching and grading students I thought it would be really difficult to give some students lower grades that would inevitably disappoint them. However since being in that position it is actually easier than I thought - not because I don't care, of course i do, but I am very conscious about being fair to those students who do really well, to ensure that their achievement isn't diluted by marking up others.

  23. Cup competitions are more likely to be affected by variance. Like with Greece and Portugal winning the Euros - Man City are a better team than Lyon but that’s football. European football is at a crossroads currently, the Spanish hegemony appears to be on the decline. Barca are appallingly ran from the top down and Real aren’t the same side they were even 2 or 3 years ago, even if their squad is fairly youthful they’re not an obviously elite side anymore and it will take a few years for them to reestablish themselves. Atlético are Atlético, they’re fantastic collectively but they l

  31. From a Utd fan on BBC sports reaction Sevilla represent everything that is odious with modern football, diving around at every opportunity, lacking class and somehow (somehow) winning a game in which they were outclassed. Utd need a striker, if they had took half their chances they would have scored 6. They must be gutted, Sevilla should be embarrassed. Alan, Seaton 😂

  38. It happens a lot though. I do think there is this ingrained belief from many that the Premier League is without any doubt the strongest. I think the PL and La Liga are the two best but as others have said I don't think it's as clear cut as people think. I think in general people in England are hard on other leagues, which is weird given the majority of the best players over here came from them.
