  2. The more I think about it, the more some bits rankle with me as outright blackmail. Why can't the implement £20 cap, away travel subsidy and safe standing NOW? Why? Someone give me a rational reason as to what is stopping them now? This is a good idea, but it's being wrapped around a blatant power grab by the top six, with the most comfortable long-serving three from the PL being their patsies. This alone should tell you the disdain with which fans are being treated here. Here's something we've wanted for a while and we can have it. HOORAY. But we have to hand control over to six f

  4. Clubs with a "longer continual stay" in the Premier League than us... Liverpool Arsenal Chelsea Manchester United Manchester City Everton Tottenham Southampton Crystal Palace West Ham Just so we're clear, these plans would exclude the 2015/16 Premier League Champions from any decision making, in favour of teams that haven't won it for: 8 years (Man Utd), 16 years (Arsenal), have only just won it after 28 years of the completion (Liverpool) and a bunch of clubs who have never won it - Spu

  8. There's a really simple solution here isn't there. If fans feel the charge is unreasonable, dont whine, just don't buy it! I know I won't it simply isn't worth it. Radio coverage makes a different and great alternative on occasions anyway. If you whine and buy your asking for all you get, you become part of the problem and it will continue. Likewise, if you're happy to pay for it fine, that's absolutely your right.

  9. I’m guessing this is aimed at me? You’ve made a lot of assumptions and that’s a real shame… I asked if anyone knew of anywhere fancy for my wife’s 40th…. Someone did and I was really grateful as we had a great meal and a lovely time… I have zero idea as to how you interpreted that as being a brag (humble or otherwise)…. Is it that exceptional that husband takes wife for fancy meal on a special occasion…? Is it that odd that I asked if anyone knew of somewhere within an hour on the decent restaurants thread? And as for ‘considerably richer’? Well, I

  10. See, this is what infuriates me. You can’t pick and choose what sections of hospitality you’re going to keep open and what you’re going to close. either, evidence proves that hospitality is the main driver of the virus and you shut all hospitality or it doesn’t. Students are one of the main drivers of the virus atm and I’m guessing that’s due to being in tightly packed university halls and not due to them being out all the time. Forcing students back to university for them then to find out all the classes are going to be online is a massive joke. And that’s not on the

  11. Please, please, please don't go 3 at the back vs these. I know they have improved beyond recognition from last season with their signings but we nailed them 8-1 across the two league games playing a mix of 4-4-2 diamond and 4-1-4-1 but decided to play 3 at the back in both semi finals where they coped with us much more easily. 4-1-4-1 with Ünder at RW, Castagne at LB and hopefully either Praet or Maddison are fit to join Tielemans ahead of the sitting Mendy in the dual 8 role. Deal with that Dean.

  16. See this is precisely what I was referring to - deferral to populist opinion. An unsourced simplistic pie chart that looks like it was cobbled together in five minutes by a year 5 schoolkid. "Hospitality"?, "The Workplace"? - Is this serious? Surely, surely, surely even Gary Neville can comprehend that people in the "workplace" and "education" are also also using hospitality? Go out on a Friday night, infect "the workplace" on a Monday morning - doesn't mean that where you work was the source. Many of our university campuses are in city center locations surrounded by hospitality. Shocking, sho

  17. As a Manchester City fan, the general reaction to this from our fans is that it appalling. Bribing the Football League in a wrapping of utter control of the PL by US owners. It's quite dreadful, and not at all a surprise that Rick Parry is championing it - the next Football League meeting should be interesting. The disrespect by excluding Leicester who've won the league more recently than most of the Nine is staggering. Your owner comes from the wrong country, so you're not invited in. What's that? a Big Gas Russian wants to buy your club? No, we don't fancy the extra competition and

  18. From about 5:30 on you can see Under in action (he came on as a substitute). Hit some incredible shots that required top notch saves from the Russian GK. Looked like a very exciting display... if he plays like this for us he will be an exciting addition, seems to have the X-Factor that maybe only James Maddison currently provides the team.

  24. Most teams in this division will punish you if you make blunders and have the defensive capability to keep you out, when you try and fight back. We weren't good v West Ham and most on here would say they deserved their win. Play like we can, and we'd give most teams a good game.

  26. I personally could afford it but choose not to pay it. There's a difference in refusing to pay a ticket price for live football as someone will invariably want that ticket. In this case, I think that should football supporters en masse refused to pay such a price, it could send quite a powerful message to the type of people that continually want to milk supporters for all they can. Our club in fairness are reasonably fair but many aren't. It's damaging what for generations has been an important family spectator sport and greed in football in more general terms is going to put many

  27. This is an argument I usually find a bit tedious when it comes to matchday ticket prices because in most cases you'll always find someone willing to pay what others wouldn't. In this case thought, it's spot on. Anyone actually paying for this is a mug.

  28. It's very generous of Liverpool and MU to allow Burnley to give up some of their income in exchange for Burnley also giving up any vestige of control, isn't it?

  29. I just can't see past the line of thinking that every region needs to have its peak before it eventually fades. We saw the huge peak during April in London, and since then London has not seen anything like the levels of peaks since. Northern cities weren't able to gain immunity in the first surge of cases, hence that's where the peaks are now. It will pass, basically. There is no need for further restrictions. But if we lock down now and cases fall, people will say the drop was mostly down to locking down. Who's to say that wouldn't be correlation rather than causation.

  32. I honestly just want these clubs to leave the English game at this stage. Make no mistake, the quality and wealth of the rest of English football would diminish for the loss of Manchester United and Liverpool, but I would really rather watch a poorer, lower quality but more honest, united English top flight. Let them go have their super league and let the shitty YouTube generation and foreign fans have it.

  34. What are you talking about now? So we're moving the goalposts? Now we've moved to when it started, yet that wasn't mentioned before, so I haven't given an opinion on it. The link you have posted has nothing to do with the peak, which was the issue I had with your post as you know. You stated as fact that the peak had passed before we went into lockdown. It hadn't, at least not according to the World Health Organisation. You keep whatever 'minded' view on it you like, but please, please, don't post outright lies as if they were facts.

Good read that , i was struck buy the last part.. “I look at the big clubs and their endless desire for money and I just think… what’s the point?” Goldblatt laments. “It’s not like you’re making much of a profit here. So what are you doing it for? What is the point of this death spiral of an ever-smaller number of clubs fighting it out? “I really do think that these people running the clubs are locked into a way of thinking that is sort of self-destructive and they justify themselves by saying we must have more money so we can have better teams so we can have better pr

So much so that when I later passed my test I went to find a used one. After a test drive I discovered that they handled like a tea trolley so I bought a Mk.4 instead. Drove it to Vicarage Road to watch us play Watford in freezing mid winter temperatures and on the way back having lost 2-1, the front offside window jammed down. Had to drive to the next service station in a blizzard.

HOWEVER, let think about what that means …….. all clubs basic annual tv money take reduces from 120m to 90m …………….that's far better for the top six to cope with than the other 14 and perpetuates the growing gap between them and the rest

I can't stand Grealish, he's like a walking stereotype of everything that's wrong with modern footballers, the diving, the attitude, the image, the ridiculous shit he gets caught doing off the pitch, he's insufferable. Barnes is the complete antidote to all of that, a humble, decent kid going about learning his trade. But none of that stops the fact Grealish is, currently, a much, much better p

I think Henrik has mentioned it as well on here recently, but it seems like Congerton is just a cog in a fairly well oiled machine here, whereas he’s been given carte blanche over signings elsewhere by the looks of it, I think that’s a good thing personally. Pure speculation obviously but it doesn’t seem like this has been the most disastrous transfer window ever, but it’s still early days. Castagne is quality though I’ve seen enough to say that already.
