  1. Creating a much-needed 'calm down' thread. Feel free to come and hang out here whenever the meltdowns get too much. We're out of the Europa League, a competition that offers a CL spot for the winner and absolutely nothing for second place. No glory. No riches. Just miles of travel and a bunch of tough midweek fixtures against some established European stalwarts. We are stretched to the brink with injuries, and people are demanding too much from a thin squad. Calm down. This has been an unusually tough season physically and mentally f

  3. Interesting words from Rodgers after the game, and I have some sympathy for him after last nights game - he really couldn't afford more injuries. I've become accustomed to watching european games hoping we don't get anymore injuries more than anything about the result. Since the Stoke game when we almost had a fully fit squad we've been losing on average a player a week. January Newcastle - Under, hamstring, 1 week Stoke - Praet, hamstring 3 months Chelsea - no injuries Southampton - no injuries Brentford - no injuries Everton - Wilf, 2 wee

  4. This season is the most demanding schedule I have ever seen. It's why I've been a bit more forgiving of last night and I'm totally braced for a possible tail off in the league as well. I'm probably a little more forgiving because not being able to go has made the whole thing a pretty dull experience. I've kind of taken the attitude that this was a taste of European football for these players - get used to the rigours, because you'll be doing this again next season. But if you think about it, just think about the moans the Europa League and its schedule has drawn from m

  10. Imagine saying on the day he arrived that in two years time, this is what we've achieved: Best ever manager win percentage in our history (and in the top flight as well), inside top five for 18 months, win UEL group, record top flight away win, some scintillating football, rejuvenated Vardy, improved the young uns coming through etc etc And there'd be stuff like "I can't warm to him" "He bottles the big games" "He's reached his level with us" "He can't take us to the next level" (whatever the next level is!) You sometimes wonder if anything would

  11. Rodgers has done an incredible job. He's rare in being a brilliant coach of players but also an effective man manager. When you compare our wage bill and spend, we're overachieving significantly. With the depth of squad we have, the fact is it's much harder for us to compete across every competition, which is compounded by all the injuries and fatigue. Sadly, with so many players out, there was an inevitability that we would have to prioritise. Obviously, it's disappointing we're out of the Europa League this season but so much has been achiev

  12. We’ve got a PL game every two days now and Ric and Tim coming back from injury. He’d saved Albrighton as Barnes is a bit knackered but it turns out we didn’t have the depth in quality or performance without them. Not totally sure it would have made a difference as we need a creative midfielder on the pitch and we didn’t have one and ended up with two DCM as Hamza didn’t make much of a box to box impact. As much as I don’t rate Perez and Praet, with no Madders, having either of them would have been a game changer. If Barnes had of played and got injured playing the full 90 that’s s

  13. The morning after and I'm still horribly disappointed to say the least. We just didn't look at all interested. Horrible horrible mentality from so many of our fans to think we're above this tournament and we somehow have a divine right to be in the CL. Yeah we've got injuries but we had a proper chance to win some European silverware and it's just gone begging. And a very large portion of the fanbase seems happy as long as we can just get in the CL next year where we'll encounter the same issues again. Round and round we go, it screams of Tottenham in blue shirts. The expectations have changed

  14. Has to be some context here. This isn't to say I'm happy we've gone out but if we're just talking about injuries*, I can see why people think it's a blessing in disguise. As in, less risk of more players getting injured and potentially derailing our season even more than it already could have been. *disclaimer - I obviously don't think it's just about injuries but every manager who has to go through something like we do has to manage their squad. I very much doubt Rodgers and players are sitting with their feet up this morning, smiles gleaming across their faces cos we've been kno

  17. Presumably you can see that with all our injuries and fatigue, losing a few fixtures at this stage might help the squad from totally disintegrating again? Don't get me wrong, I want us to win every game, and I wanted us to do well in the EL, but the lure of ECL is that we can attract better players, retain our better players (this point should not be underestimated in importance) and grow the squad and the club. So no celebration from me, but a vision of what the club is trying to grow. One knockout defeat doesn't mean the end of all of that, however badly we dealt with the tie.

  18. The Match Threads have always revealed the underbelly of this forum but lately, some of the responses and behaviour have increasingly gone from simply amusingly bizarre to at times outright disturbing. I understand the appeal for calm, in the sense of measured, rational responses and appraisals following yesterday's disappointment but it's football ffs and ultimately entertainment (although I do concede, to a City fan, that was sadly lacking last night). There are so many threats, more than enough anger, volatility, uncertainty and conflict, in the 21st century - football is an escape and for

  19. Let’s hope so. If we qualify next year I want to see investment in attacking players! Other than Barnes, Vardy and Maddison the rest ain’t really good enough for a team wanting to push for Europe every year.

  20. Embarrassing performance, embarrassing managerial decisions. Playing two defensive midfielders at home to this opposition is a joke frankly, especially playing Amartey and Albrighton too. Just no attacking intent. At least in some of our other crap home losses this season we've had a go. Didn't even look bothered tonight. Players need to have a look at themselves too. Believe in their own hype, and think we can just turn up and win these games. Dog shit, deserve some serious criticism tonight

  21. I hate it when people say "bottle" every time we lose. It's just a meaningless buzzword. We didn't lose because we were scared. A weakened team, injuries, a poor display, poor tactics if you like but nothing to do with courage.

  25. Some of you don't deserve Jamie Vardy. Never ever question the GOAT. Can play until he's 60 as far as I'm concerned and never score again, but we all know he'll knock 20 in this season still and some of you prats will frantically delete some of this drivel.

  29. I might get pelters for saying this but...... realistically, all I want is progress, season on season. That means last season, we set our bar high. This season has been mad. With the intensity and injuries most teams have been dealing with, and the COVID and no fans, means it’s been bizarre. I’d be happy with 5th and a cup final.

  30. I do find it strange that people have so much time to sit and type and whine whilst the match is on. I actively avoid the match threads and you have summed up my rationale nicely. I used to adore this site, but now it’s becoming toxic. It’s my opinion yes and I still spend time on here but the vitriol aimed at some of the players and each other is just sad, particularly for grown men. I’ve been a city fan for 30 years and I will breathe LCFC until my last breathe but Christ looking at some of the posts recently I think help is needed for some people. 31. A very big factor behind anyone who's played as number 10 for Leicester in the last 2 years, is that he's got Youri Tielemans in an 8 behind him. Tielemans biggest problem last night was that he didn't have a clone of himself behind him.

  33. Absolutely take your points here. But as a counter, it's easy with hindsight to choose the 'line' that we've stumbled at. Example? Well, it is easy to imagine that had we got to the next round then faltered, the same accusation would/could have been made, and the round after that, and the round after that.... it's too easy. I think perhaps it is wiser to look at all the lines that HAVEN'T been failed, the heady league position indicates a lot of bottle and a consistent non-stumbling at lines. Despite losing 6 league games this season, it hasn't caused a malaise, the team have come back and de

  34. Tavares is a very unusual midfielder as he excels playing either the Tielemans role, box to box or even as a 10. Even I'm not sure what his best position is as the U18's had him play all 3. Whatever the future lies for him, we are criminally short of a player who can fill in for Maddison for a few weeks so he hopefully will get a decent chance.

  35. "We bottle it every time it matters" Every game matters, we win much more than we lose, we'll never be perfect. "Without doubt this is the best footballing team we've had." And the manager takes a lot of credit for getting us into that position. We reach a level under every manager. I'm pretty happy being a good Premier League team. But would like trophies as I'm greedy. Definitely deserves criticism over the two legs but let's not go batshitmental in the analysis. Look how far we've moved forward under him. Exactly. 40. Who actually thinks either of those things, and more to the point, what does the mentality of a percentage of our fans actually matter, really? I know it's been said elsewhere, but this season is weird like no other. You might be right, we may have same issues in ECL next season (assuming we qualify), but then we might not suffer the spate of injuries, and the qualification might have enabled us to not sell our assets and grow the squad. THAT'S why qualifying for it is so important.

  41. Sorry failed in a transfer window? This is not a video game mate, you can't spend money and stack players up just incase you suddenly get injuries. If Maddison, Perez, Kelechi, Praet, Fofana or maybe just 2 or 3 these were available things would look better. Look at what Liverpool have coped with all year, we played poor yesterday yes with a patched up team, but we simply aren't man city and cannot battle on 3 fronts, hopefully our focus now will solely be on clinching top 4 which will bring in revenue, and is more attainable than winning Europa.

  44. Take Villa in the League Cup semi-final last season. Best chance for us to get to Wembley in 20 years against a team who we absolutely annihilated in the league and who were really struggling at time. Last season we finished outside of the top four after blowing a very commanding lead. I'll even chuck in Chelsea at home in the FA Cup last season too. They were absolutely woeful in the first half and we didn't capitalise on it and were knocked out. My point is that tonight is not an isolated incident. When it comes to the crunch we haven't gotten over the

  45. Quite simply with the horrific injury list we have we didn't have the squad to be compete in 23 more games (on top of the 40 odd we have already played) so so something had to give. The europa leauge was by far the best competition to go out of as it was another 7 games to win.
