When we signed him I was ok with it, thought he was a steady, solid signing, a defender who wants to defend, no nonsense - something that was a bizarre signing and clearly didn't fit in our system of old. I got fed up with him and his comments admittedly and wanted him to go - he didn't want to be here - but who would under the old regime, especially how he'd been treated inparticularly. Really happy for him and his redemption.

Good performance, again without going full Man City, Pep, Rodri or Klopp (Not Man City, I know) they made the game rather labored, but another win, impressive! I remember when teams used to bring players on and you just thought "Here we go, they're gonna score". Vardy is that player for our opposition.

Travel disruption - trains, planes, automobiles and parking
Matt replied to Spudulike's topic in Leicester City Forum
Traffic in Leicester is a joke. Obviously i'm in favour of any extension or expansion to the ground, area and City but the road networks and infrastructure needs serious improvement before anything could be considered or actually go ahead, it can't cope in it's current state let alone any more. -
Thought he had a shaky start in his first few games, I didn’t really get him but he seems to be settling in now and looked decent last night!

Not at all. It’s polar opposites in terms of positive and negative play, but whilst I wasn’t too fussed to go out against Liverpool in the cup it was a stark reminder and food for thought that some of our play against a better team who relentlessly press to play on the edge of our area is simply footballing suicide in my opinion, I don’t just speak and base this from our experience but from many premier league teams/games I’ve seen. It remains to be seen either way, in the current moment, enjoy.

I’m enjoying it for what it is, there is logic and a theory that works, in this league, I get it. Without going full Pep, Rodri or Klopp, teams in this league are gonna come up against us and “not play how we want them to” (Well, duh, isn’t that the idea, to make it hard and frustrate the opponent), sit behind and force us to break them down - we’re doing it incredibly well. I do have some pretty big concerns if we go up that we’ll play in the same way, a way which we have proven ourselves in the last few years that isn’t positive, exciting or successful - in the Premier League teams are not going to be scared of Leicester City, teams are not going to sit behind the ball - there will be no reason to play in such a way that will only cause problems for ourselves. For now though, that’s going to the back of my mind and I’m enjoying this season, it’s been too long since I’ve been able to say that!

Leicester City 3-0 Preston North End - Post Match Thread
Matt replied to moore_94's topic in Leicester City Forum
Really good! Control throughout. Hearing people this morning calling the 1st half boring. Jesus, where were all these people being so critical previous to this season?!! Atleast there is reason for having to patient and play the way we are now. Excellent, on to the next one. -
Hadn’t actually seen this post till after posting what I have above Sheff Utd finished 11th. Sheff Utd had a goal disallowed against Villa despite clearly being over the line, the game finished 0-0. Villa stayed up on 35 points, Bournemouth go relegated on 34 - that point was crucial for Villa.
-
And Bournemouth got relegated in 2020 due to goal line tech failing (not VAR, fair enough). A £200m error but nothing got done and very little fuss was made about it.

I think i'm fairly qualified to answer this seeing as it's a pet hate of mine. I'll say no, it's not a problem, at this level, We do it, but in fits and starts, not exclusively, as we have done for the past 2 years+, it's all about time and place, that's fine by me. Don't get me wrong, if we'd not won today i'd have been lambasting it but we did and we didn't do too much of it afterwards, neither have I seen that much of it so far this season at all. This is where I do get where it's claimed some of our fans are shouting "Forwards!" come from, i've not heard it, besides if people didn't have a problem/haven't been shouting that for the past 2 years+ then I don't know what they've been watching/why they have a problem now, it's nothing of the like, we are going forwards! I understand and agree with why we're doing it at this level, what I am concerned about is if we go up and continue it, we're not a top team (in the next level) and haven't been a top team, teams have not and will not come to us and sit in/behind, there is no reason, rhyme or logic to do it, all it does is invite pressure on ourselves as inferior opposition, as shown last Wednesday, it was a matter of time until we conceded, it's footballing suicide at a higher level.

Good job we turned it round from it going 1-1 else I’d have been complaining about us stupidly gifting their goal but we duly did turn it round. Don’t think Enzo seemed very happy with the performance and it wasn’t that good but the score line says different. Very impressive score line! Looked quite comfortable and easy!

According to the PGMO (Professional Game Match Officials) Premier League referee makes around 245 decisions per game, three times more than an average player touches the ball over 90 minutes. That’s one decision every 22 seconds. Approximately 45 of these decisions are technical – whether goal-kicks, corners or throw-ins – leaving around 200 decisions to judging physical contact and disciplinary actions. Of those 200, around 35 are visible decisions where an action is taken (fouls, restarts), and 165 are non-visible, where play is allowed to continue. In total, refs make around five errors per game, meaning they are right 98 per cent of the time. The number of decisions referees have to make has increased by around three per cent in each of the last two seasons, and that is only likely to go up in the coming years as discussion around rule changes intensifies. The assistant referee makes on average 50 decisions each game; 45 of these are pure offside judgements, with four of these resulting in offside flags. Their accuracy? Again, a staggering 98 per cent. (Sky Sports) Article from 2018 - How Accurate Are Referees? The PR v The Research – The Tomkins Times _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ I mean, I think 98% is a load of old codswallop but referees did like to remind us of how reliable they are and since the introduction of VAR i'd somewhat argue there are more bigger, game changing mistakes happening. I mentioned it in a thread discussing referees in the Championship the other week I think the referees are better, because they have no VAR to hide behind, albeit it more card happy (Although there were 11 yellows and 2 reds in the Tottenham v Liverpool games...) I was an advocate for VAR, I thought it was needed and naively thought there would be no more mistakes, I didn't consider that things would still be down to matter of opinion but that aside clear and obvious (no pun itended) mistakes are still happening and teams are being robbed - before VAR you just had to suck it up and get on with it, now we have VAR there is no excuse for the mistakes - if thats the case i'm sure we'd universally agree whats the point and to scrap VAR. Unfortunately the games to entrenched in VAR that it's here to stay.

I think I saw he'd congratulated Wolves on defending well, unless that was a sarcastic comment normally its "they didn't play how we wanted them to play wah wah wah".
-
Atleast it's happened to one of the top teams and getting plenty of air time, not simply swept under the carpet.

I know we were all waiting for ranting and tears but I think he handled it very calmly and well. Fair play to him.

Ange's goal reactions are very Rodgers-esque. His football certainly isn't.

So this is what I don't get about playing out from the back, this season in the Championship I get it, teams are gonna play against us sitting back, we're gonna have to break them down, playing out the back is a logical way, unlike last season, crucially this season we are playing out from the back and going forwards, I have no criticisms. But tonight against Liverpool, last season, the season before, I don't get it. We are not a top team, last season teams were not scared to come to Leicester City, it wasn't in their thoughts to sit back and defend against us, Liverpool are not going to sit back, we didn't and don't need to break them down by playing out, playing out from the back does half the job (and more) for tonights and last seasons opposition by simply being masters of our own downfall. We're 1-0 up but it still doesn't mean I understand or agree with the logic, not against this opposition. We keep losing the ball in or on our own 18 yard box, by all means play possession football but atleast play higher, in order of losing it higher up the pitch and not on the edge of your own box.
-
I was an advocate for VAR. I thought it was needed and naively thought it'd bring the correct decisions and be a leveler as there would be no way for it to be weighed in the top clubs favour. Correct decisions aren't being made and things are going even more in the top teams favour. Dare I say it, I think the refs seem to be better for not relying on VAR in this league, albeit card happy.

Perhaps that was his aim, to be banned
