My car floor is wet through. Soaking.

The carpet visibly wet but push down on it and the water rises.

Most likely leaking/clogged engine coolant thingy so i'll get a garage to have a look but does anyone have a rough idea how much this will cost to repair?

What car is it?

Why do you think its coolant? Colour?

Also, carpet in front or back aswell?

Ford fusion.

Just thought where else could that much water possibly come from.

Ive checked fluid levels which seem fine and door seals also fine.

Now im thinking water has to be getting in via the tyre wells. Havent checked them yet and would prefer a garage to have a proper look.

My missus had a brand new Fiat 500 (they're shit btw) & she had water collecting in the drivers side footwell.  It went backwards & forwards to the garage she got it from numerous times.  I thought it was probably the windscreen seal, but they ignored what I was saying & proceeded to do what they thought.  She eventually had it fixed,  It was the winsdcreen seal.

Does anyone have a dash cam in their car? If so, any recommendations?

Try in here - there's loads of obsessive whack-job complainants in this thread with dash cams.

You can often spot them on the roads too - they are the ones who drive around most days waving their hands and heads about like they are having some kind of never ending spasming seizure whilst their car drives on autopilot.

If it lowers your insurance - go for it.

Didn't think of the insurance part actually, I think mine comes up for renewal in the next 3 months or so, so it may be worth looking into, thanks for the suggestion.

Main reason why i'm thinking about getting one is my commute to work is along country lanes so a lot of the time people like to go full pelt even whilst knowing there is hardly any room. More often than not they'll cut across into the road assuming no one will ever be travelling the other way which is certainly not the case.

There's been a few instances recently where other cars have been too close for comfort so for peace of mind I'm considering getting one. At least then if someone does decide to ram into my car head on then i'll have proof it wasn't me driving like an idiot.

I have a Nextbase camera, £99 from Halfords. They can wire it in to the fusebox and hide the wiring for £30 if you need that doing.

It's a pretty comprehensive little camera.

I bought one off Amazon that has front and rear cameras. Pretty decent, and only about £130. Aukey was the brand.

This is the one. Can't argue with £99 for two Full HD cameras. Only downside is you need to buy the GPS unit for £17 if you want the location co-ordinates and speed to appear on the footage.

I bought that as well. Took me about an hour to install the lot. The bonus with these is they sit flush to the window and are very stealthy. You can barely see them from outside unless you look closely. I tucked mine behind the rear view mirror as well so garages often don't even notice it either when I have work done, as you can't really see it unless you sit in the passenger seat.

Thanks for the info, much appreciated. I’ll take a proper look later 👍🏼

I’d write to the DVLA and explain what’s happened, they should take your details off the vehicle so nothing can come back onto you.

Cheers for that. Sent a letter off the other day, hopefully all will work out.

I have another question for any mechanics on here. I have a 2007 A3. Over christmas we found a little bit of a spring, sheared off, on our drive. We have about 6 cars on the drive, the bit was between 3 of them. I know so so little about cars, looked under the front arch of my car and saw the springs are massive, looked under the rear and only saw what I now know is a shock absorber so assumed it wasnt my car.

Recently theres a road closure on my commute so I'm having to use a country road. And my God the noise is bad. Any little road blemish, like little bumps and holes, loud BANG from the rear whilst going about 50. But flat roads, speedbumps etc no noise at all. I googled this morning and at the rear there is both a spring and an absorber (which to most would probably be obvious but not me aha). Anyway based on photos, this rear spring looks about the same size as what we found.

My question is, I have work today and tomorrow and no other car available to me. I've been driving like this since before christmas. I can get the car to my garage on monday, but as for driving right now am I going to be ok? Until I saw this I had obviously been driving normally, 50/60 on country roads, so I will obviously go slower now. I'm assuming the shock will be ****ed too but am I likely to break stuff more using it today and tomorrow?

I leave for work today in about half an hour, so today at least, I do have no other option. Just gonna take it easy.

Edit to add my "commute" is 10 miles each way, fully country roads due to a closure.

Cheers.

Edit again: got to work, rather stressful. But got a ****ing flat tyre, wonderful. Gonna be dark and freezing when I finish work. Yipeeeee.

Had something replaced on my car, which evidently required the mechanic to take the exhaust off. However, he didn't' put it back on properly so every time I'm idle in low revs it rattles around like mad. Very annoying.

Anyone have any recommendations for car seat cover suppliers?  VW Sharan and with 4 kids and a dog so want something to protect the seats.  Tried looking on amazon and what and all look a bit shaky or only sets of 5

Some advice please.

My Q3 is due its first service next week. 2 years old, 20,000 miles. I rang audi today and they booked me in. £360!!!

Am I going mad or is that not crazy money?? I did ask what it entailed but she gave me loads of car chat (not my specialist subject). A poly.. something? I dunno, but I'm being ripped off here right?!!! X

It is crazy money, but I'd say that's about what it costs......especially when you consider what they actually do.

You could probably do it yourself for about £100.  I've got an Audi (an older A3) and I service it myself.  A few filters, a bit of oil & that's about it.

People are obsessed with service records when it comes to re-sale & that's what you're paying for.  I just stamp my book with a potato

2 years old and 20000 miles and not had a service yet. I take this for that money it's a major service so just do it this time.
