it just makes it more about him, which I guess is the whole idea.

The two new lines suggested above are much better than the out-of-context ones, and are in-keeping with the rest of the song. Would sound so much better, the words are far more inspiring and reflective of how Vichai and Top made us feel after our beautiful season...

For a few, the Vichai chant gets lost in the middle. The meaning is solid gold. But fair enough, it's a bit wordy.

 

Here's an attempt at keeping the meaning, but improving the flow.

yeah, this. once a chant has got going at a ground you aren’t gonna change it. especially not in a comment on a forum. 

 

probably the most notably recent example is “we’re on our way”, 90% were still singing follow the boys and claudio when he’d been sacked for 2 months.

The "play from the back/counter attack" lines are a bit corny to me but surely everyone who's trying to change them can hear that the chant sounds better when the end of those lines are rhymes or near-rhymes with "that."

 

Fine as is in my book.

Bit old school, but maybe:

 

"When Top goes up to lift the FA Cup we'll be there, we'll be there"

 

Gets his name in while also emphasising that completing the set would be the greatest tribute he could make and that this time there really won't be any snarky remarks if he wants to lift the bloody thing up let alone go round the pitch with it!

On a different note, I'm not sure if anyone has attempted it, but I think it'd be a travesty if we didn't have a pop at making a chant for Demarai Gray to the tune of 'Enola Gay' by Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark. Fits perfectly and would be original.

He can't shoot but it's okay

Cos we've got Demarai Gray

Yeah, I mean anyone who wants to have a go at changing the words is more than welcome. I just think its too good an opportunity to sing something individual which I think would also sound pretty good.

 

I only put that line in for a laugh for the more cynical amongst us, clearly wasn’t enough for Al-aLondon-Foxile though.
