I thought he had a good game too - playing against even a stand in Man City winger is no easy task.  Decent defending plus he is athletic and can get up and down the pitch at a fair pace when possible.  I can quite see why Appleton sees him as a right back.

I've always liked Amartey.  He was a rough Diamond when he came here. He has all of the attributes you need in the modern game. All he lacks is experience which I hope we will see him get more game time.

As I said before, he's absolutely fine, he just looks unorthodox which makes people think he's bad.

His promise was clear to see at home against Swansea early last season.  I've never understood the negativity.  I hope he stays for a few seasons

He definitely has "something" I just think no one's quite sure what it is, even him.  I really like him and you can tell by looking at him he has said "something".  He is an absolute athlete too, I bet his body fat is about 0.1%.  For some reason, of all our the players not currently "first teamers", I really want him to succeed more than anyone else.  I think I love him a bit. X

He defo has something, but I'm afraid he's not a right back. He's a stopper and not the marauding player that can go forward - which I think is what Puel wants.

 

I'd like to see him at centre back, but all of a sudden we seem to have decent options there.

From what I have seen of Amartey he is a center back, not a full back or a midfielder unless it's an emergency. If he works on his awareness he can be a very good center back too.

He's a decent player at RB....if he got the game time that Simpson has, I imagine he would be even sharper.

 

When fringe players come in, I always feel bad for them. Fans want them to rip it up but it's not the same as playing in the u23's. All of these players need time. Dragovic, Amartey, Hamer and even King did ok on Tuesday. Even Iheanacho didn't look terrible.....just getting a tough ride due to expectations of fans.

 

Our left sided options worry me at the moment. Fuchs isn't looking at his best at the moment and Chilly not quite at the level just yet. I wouldn't have said this 6 months ago - it's funny how things change.

Amartey will be a good player I'm sure. What I'm not so sure about is if he'll achieve it playing here.
