Love how this thread has swung from people saying he was shit to how good a right back he looks back to him being shit.

He is shit.

Note to self.....stop letting your opinion be swayed by the same old FT members. Stick with it

2 years here and failed to convince 3 managers that he has a place in the side either at RB or CM.

Simpson gets injured and he responds to his big chance to play a few games by doing that. RB must be on the shopping list in Jan, or CP promotes from the academy. Amartey can't be relied upon and we can't go on with just Simpson.

He needs to master one position, those that have watched him at international level say he’s a good centre half, but he’s been played in midfield and right back since being here.

He’s young and clearly has something, specialise in one position, and get an identity.

Some of the self aggrandising pats on the backs here are laughable. Do you really care if your opinions on a player are seen by others as 'right' or 'wrong'?

I think it's fair to say Amartey is a limited footballer who tries hard and made terrible decisions in this evening's game. He's certainly not the best player to pull on the shirt, but he's not the worst either.

I don't understand some people's need to form such a black and white view on our players.

Unfortunately yes. I don't think some people have much going on in their lives!

Did anyone just notice something on the Match of the Day highlights?

Amartey did make one vital contribution - he kept running back on the Lingard chance that hit the post and was close enough to make him decide to go for the corner.

Was still foolish to get himself sent off.

Fair comment I saw that

Maybe so but that isn't going to happen here, and it doesn't change the fact we need an RB we can rely on as back up.

First yellow was harsh, second was straight up dead headed and lazy.

Problem is its been two years and he'd not developed at all. Looks like he's got a good personality when you see him in Club media and you can still see potential in him but he's not delivered anything for us since an equaliser against Stoke over a year ago.

He needs to play to develop.

I feel for him a little bit.  Perhaps just a bit to eager to impress tonight given his lack of chances.

I say once more, if this was Simpson who had stupidly got himself sent off so quickly today, he would have none of this level of understanding from forum members.

It remains incredible the lack of parity of opinion that is afforded to different players, on here.

I guess that's all I'm seeking most of the time. Just equity.

Amartey was a total tit head for making that second challenge today, having just been booked.

It was inexcusable, so stop trying to.

No, he was highly rated in Denmark.

Ulloa would also be that  league's top scorer.

Yeah that's because Simpson's a mature, developed professional with years of top flight footballing experience.
