President Trump & the USA

America going socialist would be the biggest change the World has seen.

We also need to plan if there is a chance of it happening, there will so much business and wealth leaving it up for grabs.

The consequences for NATO could be huge as well.

I can't see it happening to be honest - not for a long time, at least outside of certain areas.

From my time there the attitudes towards individualism are way too strong in the majority of places.

The current administration has enabled and normalised a billboard from 2016 when the Democrats were in power and Obama was president?

Even for someone who hates Trump this is bit ludicrous Mac.

It would be mental, the richest country in the World turning it's back on everything that made it that way to turn towards a system that makes them poorer. Not impossible though.

Be good for us though as I say, the biggest companies in the World and the brightest minds in the country would be looking to relocate.

...the fvck?

Shit, I knew I'd seen that before somewhere, didn't check the damn date. That'll teach me to check my sources more carefully.

I think my point about this administration enabling and normalising the likes of Spencer et al stands though.

The richest...with also the biggest disparity between that wealth and the poorest. That progress comes at a cost of lives and livelihoods - better that is at least known and acknowledged rather than pretending it doesn't exist.

Like I said, honestly can't see it happening though.

The red flag flying side by side with the stars and stripes would spark a global democratic revolutions for the left. South America would be able to do what its people have always wanted without CIA interference. The EU would quickly fall in line to a new socialist world order and the centralised nature of the bloc would make this a seamless and bloodless transition.

And rather related:

Looks like women who enjoy the freedom to choose and folks who want to marry someone of the same gender better enjoy what they have right now because I'm not sure how much longer it will last - this was always a deep long-term possible consequence of 2016.

I hope very much that I'm wrong, though.

Hmm, sounds just like Brexit! :D

Understandable if so.

I'm surprised it's took so long for ordinary people to try and cut themselves off from the elite.

I read the shooter had sued the paper and lost the case.

Do you not at least concede that anti press rhetoric could embolden someone who might otherwise have been borderline about seeking personal retribution?

Or that depicting the press as "the enemy" is a dangerous road to go down, which has previously led to authoritarian regimes?

Trumps portrayal of the press is horrendous and no doubt dangerous, but it doesn’t help the argument if we jump to conclusions in this case imo, it allows more wankers to claim fake news.
