In about another fifty odd years, you will doubtless have changed your tune. Experiencing decades of life, is something the younger generations will never understand. It'.s a bit like reading the first two chapters of a book and debates it with someone who has read it all.

One day you will "see the light".

One mans "seeing the light" is another mans "making the same old tired mistakes simply because of letting the past dictate the future, rather than just remembering it."

Were you around 50 years ago as I was?

Your perception of safety and life as it was in the 60ies is an entirely subjective view. Plus, you were a lot younger back then and (probably) held (entirely) different views as opposed as today and were likely having (a lot) less responsibilities and/or safety concerns.

Next thing you tell us is that you were born Conservative. :D

50/60 years do there was still crimes committed but in different ways. You could leave milk molney out and the milkman would walk through an unlocked door pick it up and walk out again. On the other hand if someone wanted to nick your telly they would need a forklift truck because they were a nine inch screen in a cabinet.Banks had little in the way of security so they were easy targets. Now a crimminal has to have knowledge of the security system and plan six months ahead. Mugging someone in the street or stealing a flat screen tv from a house is a lot easier. Before the train robbery in 63 crimminals used weapons like iron bars. When the sentences of 30 years were handed out criminals started to carry guns. The sentence for murder was the same so they had nothing to lose.

The nature of crime has also changed. There was as much domestic violence but it was not reported. Child abuse was unheard of and caxes are only coming to be known about. If soeone was robbed in the street there were no cameras to record it. I could go on but peceptions change over the years.

We have no doubt you have seen the world change, it's your inability to cope with said changes and your proposed solutions and attitudes toward changing it back that make you silly old men.
