Will your name soon become extinct?

Only having government approved names!

Imagine trying to grow up with a name like Haareey or McEnzo whilst also being a 'normal' child. People like Coldplay and the voted for the Nazis. You can't trust them.

I worked for an American company, and never liked the U.S. habit of combining the parents names to create a new name for their child. For instance, Angela and Bertram might have called their offspring Angram, or Berela.

I'm pleased to say Penny and Dennis Small had fertility issues....

But don't worry, there'll be another 1000 invented names in circulation this year :

Alaigh

T'ai

Schwanda

Anai

Anuh

And so on and so forth.

I think in Sweden you're only allowed to choose from a list of government approved names. I wish that was the case here.

As opposed to those non-invented names...

On the bus the other week there was a kid called Chardonnay. Beaumont Leys mum's must be using cheap wine as inspiration. It was the kids sisters Blue Nun, Lambrini and Babycham I felt sorry for though

My newest nephew has been named Farley.

At least he should grow up tough, given the kickings he's gonna get at school.

Believe me, that doesn't always work.

Indeed. Names we take for granted were all invented at some time. Some even come from fiction into general acceptance. The name Wendy didn't exist until J. M. Barrie wrote Peter Pan.

At least, that's what I told my son, Gandalf.

"So Mr and Mrs Börg, what's it going to be? Sven, Sven, Sven, Sven or Sven?"

I was training a new young (20) staff member last week. She asked me what it was like growing up with such a "mature" name. Said it mustve been weird to be a child with my name lol.

(its not on the list but probably should be :) )

If my baby was born already balding and a face of a 50 year old lorry driver, I would.

Isn't that what new-borns look like anyway?
