A ride at Drayton Manor theme park has been closed following a major incident.

The park said Splash Canyon was shut on Tuesday due to reports of someone falling into the water.

Emergency services and park staff were at the scene, the park said.

West Midland Ambulance Service said it was called to the park at 14:18 BST.

Just now, StanSP said:

i had a dream/nightmare last night that a rollercoaster malfunctioned and a tall structure snapped in half crushing a passenger.

wonder if it's linked.

Bloody hell, don't say that. I'm supposed to be going there on Sunday, and that's the sort of thing that happens to me. I'm a walking curse!

Apparently it's an 11-year-old girl from Leicester. Hope its not too serious.

Airlifted to Birmingham Children's Hospital.

Mirror was reporting an 8 year old boy.

EDIT: just seen police confirm a girl.

I'm not a quivering mess, sat trembling in the corner, afraid to go outside. Things will happen regardless, but it just seems I tend to get a bit more bad luck than most. At least it's given me some good stories! lol

Wow that's actually awful. My wife just told me as she got home and it sent a shiver down my spine. School trip apparently.

in all seriousness, close the park down. Someone is getting sued big time

I've always thought it'd be quite easy to end up in the water on the rapids, if you're not sensible of course,

That's the ride she died on....

It might not be the park's fault though, mate. Could just as easily have been a result of kids pratting around, it's pretty difficult to actually fall into the water.

Yeah you're right. After the Alton towers incident I just assumed the worst.

Thoughts go out to the family

Alton towers was engineer **** up. this can be many different things. the fact it said in the statement "multiple injuries" gets me worried she got caught in the wooden struts.
