James Justin - Luton Town

"They will be interested," said our source. "Leicester are trying to develop their U23s squad – it's an area they have decided to invest in after not really doing so in the past, and the club needs to start developing players through its academy.

"Most of the back four in the first team are the wrong side of 30 now and there's no youngsters coming through, they need understudies. Ben Chilwell is being lined up as the understudy to Christian Fuchs, and Justin may be seen as someone who can do the same for Danny Simpson

"He wouldn't be seen as someone ready for the first team, but he's the right sort of age for players they want coming into the academy. Developing players themselves and having them learn the culture is key to the club's ideals."

"The development squad is not short of talent – Polish international Bartosz Kapustka can't even get into the first team – but it lacks in strength and depth. A fee like £400k would not be much of a gamble for Leicester to take, but any deal would probably heavily involve a sell on clause."

Back in LU4, Justin has been a revelation since breaking into the side – being voted Young Player of the Year and keeping Stephen O'Donnell on the bench.

A ligament injury picked up in Saturday's win over Morecambe, a week after he netted his first goal for the club, was thankfully not as bad as first feared, and Luton will be hoping he is passed fit for the play-offs.

As for the Leicester link – it appears it may well be a genuine one – but Hatters fans will be hoping a Luton-born player not only feels some loyalty to the club which has developed him, but also sees first team football in League One or Two as preferable to taking a gamble with a Premier League academy which could easily backfire

The prospect of him turning us down does sound daft initially, but it would be a serious thing to have a think about wouldn't it. He *could* be playing regular League One football for his hometown club next season, or he could move to our academy which hasn't really kept pace with our progress as a club at all and seems more "jobs for the boys" - it just doesn't come across as all that appealing in comparison.

Hopefully Barnes and Chilwell start to show the tide turning in terms of us nurturing talent properly.

Honestly if we get turned down by a 19 year old from League 2 out of 'loyalty to the club' we need to protest violently until Rudkin gets binned.

Foreskin will never get binned.

Can imagine Schmeichel and Riyad reading this and gong, this club really is going places.

Exactly. Riyadh must be gutted the club is considering gambling on players that only cost £400k.

We're in desperate need of a square-shouldered right back. Danny Simpson is way too round-shouldered for my liking.

Thats roundist!
