Icardi is on fvcking fire. What a striker Inter have.

Inter were somewhat fortunate to come away with the win based on the 2nd half performance! Took their foot off their gas and nearly paid for it.

How Handanovic let the first one in I'll never know. lol

Have to giggle at that. Icardi grabs a brace against Samp and the camera man makes a point of picking out Wanda in the crowd. lol

Is she the one that was married to Maxi Lopez beforehand? Memory is a bit vague but it all kicked off didn't it and those two hate each other?

Italian football supporters at it again. As per usual, Lazio "Ultras" at the forefront of the problems... Distributing stickers with Anne Frank in a Roma shirt, along with some anti-semitic phrases. I mean, why?

----

The Italian team's hard-core support, known as ultras, sparked outrage on Sunday, as fans at the Stadio Olimpico distributed stickers which showed the girl in a Roma shirt along with anti-Semitic messages.

In response, the club organised trips to Auschwitz and a local synagogue, while Lazio players wore Anne Frank t-shirts with the words "No to anti-Semitism" before their 2-1 win over Bologna on Wednesday.

Lazio's right-wing ultras, who are being investigated by police, boycotted the tie in Bologna "to avoid being complicit in this media theatre".

At the request of the Italian Football Federation, extracts of Anne Frank's diary and Italian Jewish writer Primo Levi's memoir If This Is A Man were read out before all of Wednesday's Serie A fixtures.

The tribute was followed by a minute's applause in most stadiums, but the readings were marred by some Juventus ultras who turned their backs to the pitch and sang the Italian national anthem.

Meanwhile, some Roma fans attempted to drown out the readings by singing club chants.

---

Can't understand the reactions of Juventus and Roma "Ultras" either... Singing through the readings of Anne Frank's diary?

It's good that they're trying to combat the anti-semitism but seriously, wtf were they thinking reading out her diary at a game? The shirts and the poster are retarded as well.

Who genuinely signed off a photoshopped picture of Anne Frank in a Bologna shirt? It's ****ing nuts.

Yup. Her version of the story is that her marriage to Lopez was a very unhappy one and he was always cheating on her, the Argentine courts ruled that way in her favour.

But still, Icardi and Lopez were team mates when she ran off with Icardi and Icardi posted loads of pictures on social media of himself with Lopez kids which kicked things off big style.

Love Mauro as a player but he's a proper maniac in the head.

The whole thing is bonkers.

I agree the Anne Frank reading and the Bologna leaflets were probably ill-judged, but I think the intention was there.

Not surprising though. A culture of anti-semitic and racist "humour" has long persisted among Ultras from so many Italian football teams, always excused by its propagators in the same terms: as irreverence, banter, deliberate bad-taste satire.

But you're right, it will take more than a reading and a few flyers to bring about meaningful change there.

Evra sent off for Marseille before kick off for kicking one of his own club's fans in the head.

lol

Should have just done a Wasilewski death stare.

Edit - Just saw that Dr Marco beat me to the post.

"Marseille defender Patrice Evra was sent off before the start of his side's UEFA Europa League game against Vitoria Guimaraes in Portugal after a heated confrontation with a supporter. Evra, who was named as a substitute for the Group I tie, appeared to aim a kick at a fan, prompting the red card before Marseille went on to lose the game 1-0".

He was a named sub but was red-carded before kick-off. lol

Come on then, fans of "You are the ref", how does that work?!

Did Marseille start with 11 but 1 man short on the bench? Did they start with 10? Did they start with 11 but were only allowed to use 2 subs?

Serious question!

They have one less sub on the bench. So not really a massive punishment, just gives them slightly less in terms of options.
