So far both Dover and Calais are shut and we may even have to spend a night somewhere near Calais tonight if they don't redirect us to the Eurotunnel !!

So what's the update then?

Great game by the lads tonight! Well deserved win. Looks like we are slowly but surely coming back to form.

Highlights:

6-minute version:

https://www.proximus-sports.be/nl/voetbal/proximus-league/video/27787/samenvatting-oh-leuven-lommel-sk

Great match, Lommel never in it really. But what's more important, both Beerschot and Virton only drew, while Westerlo had their match postponed due to the storm. That puts OH Leuven in first place in the second period, tied on points with Beerschot and Virton but ahead on number of matches won.

If the current standings were final, then the following would happen:

  • Division 1B Promotional Playoffs: not held. OH Leuven win both period 1 and period 2, are automatically declared champions and get promoted!

  • Playoff 2 (Europa League Playoffs): OH Leuven, Virton, Westerlo, Union SG, Beerschot and Lommel qualify by virtue of finishing top 6 overall (period 1 + period 2). Virtual groups:
    •  group A: Zulte Waregem, Oostende, Waasland-Beveren, Lommel
    •  group B: Mechelen, Eupen, Cercle Brugge, Beerschot
    •  group C: Anderlecht, Kortrijk, OH Leuven, Union SG
    •  group D: Sint-Truiden, Excel Mouscron, Virton, Westerlo
    •  4 group winners play home & away semi finals (A vs C & B vs D) and final with highest league finisher always hosting the return match. Final winner plays 4th place finisher of playoff 1 (or 5th in case one of top four wins the cup, in this case if Antwerp or Club Brugge win the cup and finish top 4) for final European ticket in single match at stadium of highest league finisher = PO1 team.

  • Playoff 3 (Relegation Playoffs): bottom two teams in the overall 1B standings, Roeselare and Lokeren, take part in a best-of-five playoff. As Roeselare (23pts) finished ahead of Lokeren (19pts + one match in hand), they start with home advantage and receive a three point head start.

Might I ask why Leuven are above the other 2 that have the same points but a better goal difference?

To be fair, I was a little suprised to see these standings as well, since I thought the goal difference would be the decisive factor.

I believe we are placed at the top because we have won more games then Beerschot and Virton.

I thought it might be goals scored rather than difference, OH 18 the other two 12, but I don’t know this for certain and could be wrong.

Looked it up and these are the decisive factors:

1. Most wins

2. Goal difference

3. Most goals scored

4. Most goals scored in away games

5. Most wins in away games

I thought it was always a 90 minute trip from Calais to Dover. It is every time I use it.
