brucey Posted 22 June 2017 Share Posted 22 June 2017 As an aside, I liked the couple of instances where Chilwell and Gray just passed it repeatedly back and forth between the two of them for no particular reason. Bromance (and boosting that pass completion stat up too! )

ALC Fox Posted 23 June 2017 Share Posted 23 June 2017 I know it's only one game but it sounds like Chilwell and Gray were brilliant. To be fair it appears that Chilwell has had a good tournament (aside from giving a penalty away). I'm really excited to see how both link up for us next season. I think if they both line up on the left they could tear Arsenal (and their potential new signing - Riyad something, I think) a new one! In all seriousness, it's an exciting time. Chilwell looks to be more capable of putting in consistently good to brilliant performances in, although Gray just hasn't had as much game time towards the end of the season and during this summer. They'll have to be managed so they don't burn out so I guess they won't be ready to start the first game if they get an extended break in preseason. But this could be an awesome year for the two of them. Potentially.
filbertway Posted 23 June 2017 Share Posted 23 June 2017 Gray looked absolutely don't be about the 70 minute mark. Not surprising considering he got about 30 minutes of football since march though. Happy for the guy. Absolutely class ball for Murphy. Reminded me a lot of the counter v Everton
lgfualol Posted 23 June 2017 Share Posted 23 June 2017 Once Chilwell improves his crossing he should be our first choice. It's quite bad at the moment, we need Fuchs to sort him out. When he gets crossing down we will be dangerous down that left side with his dribbling ability. He's pretty good at defending too, just needs more experience. He's certainly an exciting prospect and imo easily a future England left back

Given how often we have virtually no aerial attacking ability on the field it may be he considers crossing's a long-shot lottery and doesn't get much practice cos there's not much to aim for with our only heading specialists, Slim and Ulloa usually on the sidelines. wasthedestroyer Posted 23 June 2017 Share Posted 23 June 2017 Chilwell is decent at beating players down the outside and if we can sign another striker id like to see him crossing low into the near post / penalty spot area, hard and low. Gray will always pose a threat no matter what form he is in, hes just that kind of player at a young age. If we can keep hold of both, we will be looking at a decent pairing for leicester & england be it youth level for now...

The Guvnor Posted 23 June 2017 Share Posted 23 June 2017 To keep hold of Gray we need to start playing him regularly and I hope we do seems a perfect replacement for Mahrez if he leaves imo.
foxes21 Posted 23 June 2017 Share Posted 23 June 2017 If Gray does replace Mahrez next season, then for me he needs to play like he did when we won the league. Nice link up play, kept it simple and made good runs into space.

If he replaces Mahrez it will be up to him to create chances, balls into the box or quick link up play and through balls etc.
foxy boxing Posted 23 June 2017 Share Posted 23 June 2017 Great seeing Gray and Chilwell link up for the England u21's and shows why we need to give Gray more playing time next season. He needs to step up now and do it for the foxes week in week out. we know what a talent he is so now he needs to constantly and consistently work on his game and link up with his team mates
coolhandfox Posted 23 June 2017 Share Posted 23 June 2017 Both him and Chilwell need more game time, handled well we could have a couple of possible regular England players on our hands.

Clever Fox Posted 23 June 2017 Share Posted 23 June 2017 15 hours ago, Kitchandro said: What formation is this? Chilwell is not a winger. You can tell just by watching him. He might make a very good full back one day, borderline wing back even, but not a winger. Don't get to hung up on systems. Good players can adapt to the play as opposed to a rigid system. You're right Chilwell is not quite fast enough to play a tradition wing role. but neither is he a brilliant defender just yet, But he has time on his side. What he does have is a good footballing Brain and the confidence and the ability to be at man. Something we lack greatly. This makes him perfect to play the Albrighton role on the left while Mark moves to the right. This would give us more Balance defending and going forward. As for lineups it depends on whether we're lining up defensively or in an attacking sense. Personally I prefer the attacking approach as you impose your own game on the opposition. Which also keeps them further away from our Goal. But I guess we will have a few more new players in and possibly Mahrez out before the seasons begins. Marshall Cockney Fox Posted 23 June 2017 Share Posted 23 June 2017 I was pleased more with his assist, as the flawed/greedy Gray would have taken it on himself. He's undoubtedly talented, just needs to make the right call more often. Good game Demarai.
