To be fair to Rudders that is some exceptional business.

Slim is clearly broken, possibly since we signed him which is why we didn't see his best....

... If he actually had a best and wasn't just a Portuguese League fraud...

He's due to be back for the game against us, that he can't play in

Be lucky if he even plays for them at all at this rate

Oh lord. I feel sorry for the guy. And Newcastle.

Just a quick round-up, including input by others:

Elliott Moore missed his first regular season game (a 1-1 draw against Beerschot) after 24 consecutive appearances because of a knock. Should be back for the last game of the second "half" of the season against Roselaere Sunday afternoon - sadly a pointless fixture, because leaders and second "half" winners Cercle Brugge are already pinned against Beerschot (1st season "half" winners) for the playoff games, fighting for promotion.

Following Wigan's second consecutive League One loss, this time at home with a purposefully weakened side against Blackpool, Callum Elder put in a very solid performance in the Latics' recent fantastic FA Cup 1-0 victory against Manchester City, earning himself a yellow card in the process.

After being left out of the squad in a 1-0 home win against Bremen, I have a funny feeling Bartosz Kapustka will not make the trip with Freiburg to Hoffenheim today for the Baden-Württemberg derby. The Cabbage's last appearance in a SCF shirt was two weeks ago, playing for the reserves in a game away at Saarbrücken (booked, substituted in the 75th minute).

OGC Nice continue to do better without Nampalys Mendy on the pitch, managing a 1-1 draw against Nantes this past weekend. Nice aren't doing too well in the Europa League, having been ousted by Lokomotiv Moscow 4-2 on aggregate. Nampalys was an unused substitute in the 1-0 away loss during this week.

Islam Slimani still suffers from a thigh injury and following latest reports, won't feature for Newcastle until the beginning of March.

Ahmed Musa appeared twice for CSKA Moscow in their Europa League fixtures against Red Star Belgrade, going the full distance in both cases. They are now up against Olympique Lyon in the Best of 16 round. Russian Premier League life continues next weekend with a home game against FC Ural.

Brighton are in the FA Cup quarter-finals for the first time in more than 30 years, also in parts down to Leonardo Ulloa's powerful header (after a lovely floating cross by Bruno) in a 3-1 win against Coventry. Leo made it to 90 minutes, presented himself well and worked his socks off for the team.

Andy King? Cup-tied for Swansea. Next chance in the PL today, away at... Brighton.

Raul Uche and Real Bétis B are up against Villanovense on Sunday went the full 90 minutes for Real Bétis B in the 1-1 home draw against Melilla.

He played the full match against Murcia the other weekend, here's the full match:

Do u know why kapustkas not playing

Elliott Moore missed his second regular season game in a row (another 1-1 draw, this time against Roselaere). The club have failed to reach the playoffs in order to gain promotion to the top-flight and will remain in the Proximus League for at least another season. Next task up ahead: Somehow get OH Leuven to an Europa League place (see the OH Leuven thread).

No Callum Elder for Wigan against Rochdale (1-0) on the weekend. The Latics are up against Bristol Rovers away tomorrow. Callum isn't injured as far as I can tell, so he's likely to be rested for the crucial few games in the league and the FA Cup ahead. Wigan still have three games in hand in League One and are in 3rd spot, three points behind leaders Blackburn.

Where is Bartosz Kapustka? Not in Freiburg's squad away at Hoffenheim on the weekend.

Still no win for OGC Nice with Nampalys Mendy in the squad: A drab 0-0 away draw at Bordeaux was the consequence, at least Nampalys was made captain this time.

Islam Slimani remains out of action due to a thigh injury, but may be part of the Newcastle United squad this upcoming weekend (away at Liverpool).

Ahmed Musa will likely be featured again for CSKA next weekend in a home game against FC Ural.

Leonardo Ulloa was an unused substitute in Brighton's 4-1 home win against Swansea, the Gulls' fourth win in their last six matches (all unbeaten).

Same bench fate for Andy King on Swansea's side.

Raul Uche scored his second goal for Real Bétis B, at home against Villanovense (1-2) on Sunday, a game Bétis B utterly dominated and should've won by a large margin, only to be denied by the Villanovense goalkeeper on multiple occasions (Uche's goal at 0:48):

Musa just scored against Lyon in the Europa League R16 to put CSKA 2-1 up.

With Puel's taste for pacy wingers, I am surprised that we didn't see him get a game.

I think his mother dying of cancer while in Leicester affected his performances here. Most of the time he was terrible, but there were flashes of erratic brilliance.

Elliott Moore and OH Leuven are currently in a training camp in Albufeira, Portugal (http://www.ohl.be/nl/heren/nieuws/bericht/10739/eerste-dag-van-de-stage-zit-erop). Leuven's first playoff match will be an away game against Zulte Waregem on the 1st of April.

Wigan Athletic and Callum Elder are out of the FA Cup after a 2-0 home loss against Southampton. From what I saw in the first half, Elder played very well and joined in going forward on multiple occasions. Following Shrewsbury's 2-1 win on the weekend, Wigan are now back to third in League One, with two/three games in hand (to Shrewsbury/leaders Blackburn) and three points and one win adrift of second spot.

Bartosz Kapustka continues to lead a rather miserable life at SC Freiburg. Again, no match practice on the weekend, as Freiburg lost the Württemberg derby against Stuttgart 2-1.

Nampalys Mendy wasn't part of the OGC Nice squad that lost 2-1 against league leaders PSG. Still can't find any information on his status, whether he is injured or not.

Islam Slimani could feature for Newcastle United for the very first time in the home game against Huddersfield on the 31st, after having recovered from a thigh injury.

Ahmed Musa and CSKA Moscow will face Arsenal in the UEFA Europa League quarter-finals. Other than that, no matches in sight until the league game against Rostov on the 1st of April.

Leonardo Ulloa: Another FA Cup start for Brighton & Hove, this time in the quarter-final against Manchester United away (a 2-0 defeat). Replaced by Glenn Murray after 76 minutes, but linked up well with Jürgen Locadia up front. Unfortunately, Ullloa just posed little to no goal threat at all.

Andy King: Cup-tied for Swansea's 3-0 FA Cup loss against Tottenham.

Raul Uche: Real Bétis B, down to ten men after 53 minutes, were 1-0 losers away at Marbella on the weekend. Uche played the full 90 minutes:

Swansea City are reportedly interested in securing a permanent deal for midfielder Andy King.

The 29-year-old, who is on loan from Leicester City, has scored once in four games since his move from the Liberty Stadium on deadline day.

According to The Mirror, Swansea want to keep King in South Wales past the end of his loan stay after the Welshman's recent performances under Carlos Carvalhal.

The newspaper adds that a deal, which could reach up to £6m, hinges on Swansea surviving in the Premier League this season, with the club 14th in the table with eight games to go.

King has been at Leicester since youth level, winning the League One title, the Championship and a Premier League crown with the club after racking up 388 appearances so far.

Interesting catch up on the loaned players in todays Mercury.

Of the seniors it seems only King is performing to expectations.with some others proving to be a bit of a miss. Which is not going to help with moving on the dead wood.

Yep ...   a few duds in there ...   but I think we knew it really ...

One of the youth team players Dylan Watts (20 year old) is at League of Ireland club Bohemians.

He's started to make the first 11 recently and he scored in the league of Ireland cup last week. He also played today in a win versus UCD. One Bohemians fan on twitter was impressed with him this afternoon.

He’s only made 1 appearance for the u23s all season. One to be released me thinks.

Think even if Swansea do go down (I think they'll survive personally) it would still be a good move for King and a smart signing for Swansea especially with rumours that Ki is due to leave on a free transfer. King would be an astute piece of business for any club in the top end of the Championship and bottom end of the Premier League.
