Okazaki is all over the newspapers this morning. Along with Honda and Kagawa, he's been left out of the squad for Japan's forthcoming friendlies with Brazil and Belgium. Predictably, the omission of the 'Big Three' is causing something of a sensation here.

'They didn't play well last time so I'm leaving them out', explains boss Halilhodzic, and although the door has been left open for them to fight their way back in before next June ('They need to find their old form'), it looks bleak for all three at the moment. Okazaki and Honda were left out of last month's friendlies too, but the asumption was they'd be back after new faces had been tried. This looked even more likely after Japan struggled in those two games, but now not only have Honda and Okazaki not been recalled, but Kagawa has also been left out.

Halilhodzic gambled in Japan's big WCQ in September - relying on new faces for the crunch game against Australia - and it paid off handsomely, with newcomer Yosuke Ideguchi the star of the show. No doubt that convinced him it was time to ditch the 'old' faces (Kagawa is 28, Okazaki and Honda 31).

A brave manager we could do with for England me thinks . Unless he falls on his face like shinji because of shinji. ?

From the Nigerian Corner. Iheanacho, Ndidi and Musa all made the Nigeria call up for the last WCQ group match against Algeria and friendly against Argentina. Looking at the current omissions from the team this time around, both Iheanacho and Musa will be playing in these matches and probably starting.

Algeria vs Nigeria today so could see Mahrez, Slimani, Ndidi, Iheanacho, Musa all on the pitch at the same time.

What's the most amount of international players playing at the same time? Could be 5 tonight. Can't think of other matches where it could have been more?

Mahrez, Slimani, Ndidi, Iheanacho all starting. Musa on the bench.

Kick off 1930. Think I'll watch this instead of the England game.

1-1

In summary:

Mahrez and Ndidi - good

Slimani - poor

Iheanacho - invisible apart from a few decent free kicks

Referee and pitch - shocking

Musa came on with 10 mins to go. Didn't do much but he was arguing with Slim about something after FT.

Poor is understatement. Missed an open goal.

Mahrez  was okay, I wonder why he was subbed off

Ndidi was good though

Was it swapping the kop and the family stand?

Andy Kings merit in the first team.

Should we drop Maguire

or more likely

the attitude of Gray?
