Why would he leave Watford for us? Especially at this time? He'd be mad!

Money, He's reported to be only on 500K a year at Watford. he took on Hull when they were struggling and not only saved them but beat Utd and Liverpool in the process.

0 chance. Money doesn't make everything.

It does if you're offered him 10 times the salary he's on at Watford. He'd have a bigger spending budget with us also.

Hull?

Sporting Lisbon?

Have you bothered to read anything about him. He's been a success everywhere he went. mostly with poor teams and little money. Even beating Arsenal in Europe. All his past players speak very highly of him both as a Manager and a Tactician. Only last Week Cleverly said he's the best Manager he's worked under.

Guys this good don't come around too often, The right Manager is priceless. It's a guarantee of success. His signing are always top class also.

5 million for him and 5 million for Watford would be cheap at twice that price.

Ryan Giggs he's interested in us and Everton.

No thanks!

He, like Kevin Nolan is currently doing for example, should start club management at a lower level of league.

He has no strong right at all, considering he's lacking club managerial experience, to manage a top-flight team - no matter how good a player he was.

Yes, I have read it again and again because I keep hearing people rave mental about a bloke whose had a good start with Watford and he hasn't had any success for every club he's been at.

He goes to Hull and gets them relegated. FACT. He had money to spend what Phelan didn't. When it mattered they lost 2-0 at home to Sunderland and lost 4-0 away to Crystal Palace for crying out loud.

He did very well at Estoril but didn't pull up any trees at Sporting Lisbon whereas the previous manager before (Jardim) and the manager since have done so (Jorge Jesus).

He won a one-team league in Greece where one of the main competitors were in the lower leagues for financial irregularities and match fixings. At the same time the owner of the club he's at goes to court for match fixing and alleged to have organised a referee's business to be blown up with a bomb. Knocked out in the Champions League group stages and then knocked out in the Round of 32 in the Europa League.

His start to his time at Watford is comparable to Shakespeare's early days. He's had zero input into signing players because that's how Watford work. Time will tell if he's any good but he's not anywhere near the hype. He's being hailed as some messiah when he's simply just good at the moment.

If Appleton carries on the good form over the next few or more games, from the Swansea game, and gets the nod for the manager position - would you agree with this and give him time/patience etc?

Yes, he's inexperienced at this level - but he if does the above and gets it'll be based on merit and that it'd show that he's capable of doing the job?

**** it.

I'm interested in the job as well, Leicester or Everton.

Get your application up to Goodison, Matt.

Might result in some unconventional post-match interviews and the odd betting scandal, but I can see the Scousers taking you to their hearts.

If we keep passing the ball like at Swansea, and picking up plenty of points, I don't see any reason to rush a new appointment.  But even if he pulls off a Shakey-style turnaround, I still think the owners will be 'once bitten, twice shy', in terms of promoting from within.
