I know this one so I'll play the 90s Brit pop expert for a second. The lyrics are not suppose to make sense. The song was initially written as a piss take of the early to mid nighties grunge scene (mainly nirvana) and the fact that the song writers would claim their songs were deep a meaningful despite the fact that the lyrics made largely no sense to anyone whether they were on drugs or not, in my own opinion quite possibly a bit of a dig at oasis as well as Noel largely admits a good proportion of his songs don't even make sense to him. Hence why the instrumental is a lot harder than most blur songs.

 

Now we've established I'm a music expert I can safely say I've never miss heard a lyric, now excuse me while I kiss this guy.

This is superb as a lad I worked with sang exactly the same with the same theory!

 

He was dreadful though as he often used to sing lyrics that didn’t even sound close eg Chumbawamba
