The genie is  out of the bottle ..... it isn’t going back.

Why should our players be paid less than their equivalent at other clubs?  If we are no longer ambitious and not prepared to play the ‘money game’ then fine - we will drift slowly back to the championship.  We will struggle to attract players as good as vardy and mahrez are now, even if we are paying the money, so best to try and keep what we have. Asking to be paid the going rate for your ability surely isn’t greed ??

Spurs seem to have no problems for some reason, It's quite well known they are tight, I know Tottenham havn't won anything but neither have Liverpool (recently) for example and I don't think you have to look at the 'top' clubs in terms of what they pay their players compared to Tottenham.

I don't understand how Tottenham have kept their players for so long.

I know Walker left and no-one followed but I think it's only a matter of time till one leaves then it'll be an exodus.

Regardless of what he could got elsewhere - Vardy needs to remember we rescued him from £500 a week to earning 200 times that, plus adds ons and put him in a position to win a  premier league medal and england place.

His agent is only doing his job but he needs to be careful he doesn't start taking us for a ride, the owners won't like that. If I was Vichai I'd play hardball knowing Vardy is settled and has a non tainted reputation here and a cult hero. Would he really want to move away and uproot his family for another 25K a week to a club where he would be a small fish in a big pond, here he is adored by players, fans, media etc and is a hero. Would he play week in week out at Man Utd? No.

Keep him on his current deal, there is another 2.5 years on that which will take him to 33.5. If he wants to leave then no problem with me. In terms of financial stability / short career pull the other one. Over the next 2.5 years he will earn £14m roughly.  Earning 150K a year as a CEO for 25 years would pull you in £3.75m, you don't see many of them rolling round in a toyota yaris.

The best thing to do to keep Vardys agent quiet is to keep Iheanacho and Diabate scoring goals. Whilst vardy seems our only option and he's a sought after player from other clubs he's got every right to maximise his earnings, he'd be stupid not too, this is a World where Sanchez is on £500k a week after all.

Just give him the pay rise, freedom of the City, let him pick the team and whatever the guy wants I don’t care he can never leave.

Vardy could easily lose his pace in a year or two.

The problem with new deal every year is that you don't renegotiate if he starts to lose his impact.

It's a no to a new deal for me

Yes and hopefully the catalyst could be the Manager leaving at the end of this season.

At least this ones gone quiet. Imagine losing Mahrez and Vardy in the same day

I have to admit you gave me a small heart attack. Seeing this topic near the top of the page. Saying that I've done the same thing. Carry on.

BREAKING: VARDY IS GOING TO EVERTON TONIGHT.

So is the rest of the Leicester team.

Leave me alone.

An object lesson in what watching too much CD/TV/TS porn can do to the mind. :nigel:
