LCWFC 2 - Guiseley 3 & Blackburn 1 - LCWFC 2

Having suffered a disappointing defeat last Sunday to AFC Guiseley, The Foxes have bounced back in great fashion to take maximum points away from the favourites for the league, Sophie Domingo netted twice including the 89th minute winner to secure a valuable 3 points.

The league table currently looks like this:

1. Middlesbrough Pld 19 Pts 42

2. Blackburn         Pld 14 Pts 34

3. Leicester          Pld 17 Pts 34

4. Huddersfield    Pld 20 Pts 34

5. Stoke City        Pld 18 Pts 34

With their games in hand, Blackburn still look to be the favourites for the title however all three of the top teams still have to play against each other.

Shame about the loss but the win bodes well for the cup final. Still no news on final tickets?

Sorry for the slow reply.

I don't think they are selling cup final tickets in advance unfortunately. (Not sure why!)

Tickets are priced at £5 Adults, £2.50 Concessions and £1 Children (Under 3's go free!) Just turn up on the day! :)

Guiseley 0 - LCWFC 4

Leicester picked up another vital 3 points in the title race yesterday with a 4-0 win away from home against AFC Guiseley. Leigh Dugmore scored the only goal of the first half before a brace from Rosie Axten came either side of Leigh Dugmore's second of the day. Coupled with Blackburn only managing a 1-1 draw with Wolves, the Foxes are back into 2 place and now just 5 points short of leaders Middlesbrough with a game in hand.

The Foxes have two games this week, as they host struggling West Bromwich Albion in another pivotal league match on Wednesday evening (Farley Way, Quorn, LE12 8RB - 7:45pm KO) before setting their sights on the League Cup Final on Sunday where they travel to Chesterfield's Proact Stadium to take on Blackburn Rovers.

Thanks, I was starting to guess that was going to be the case. I mentioned it to the manager of a local girls team and they're taking a few as well now. My daughters really looking forward to it.

LCWFC 3 - West Brom 2

Leicester City continue to pile the pressure on the other teams in the title race, after coming from behind to beat West Brom 3-2! The Foxes trailed 1-0 at the break but a superb half-volley from Sophie Domingo pulled Leicester back level before Mo McIntosh scored her first goal of the season after returning from injury to put Leicester in front. Top-scorer Rosie Axten looked to have secured victory with the third inside stoppage time before West Brom scored to set up a tense and nervy finish. Thankfully Leicester held out for the three points!

Leicester now turn their attention to two cup finals, first the league cup final on Sunday against Blackburn Rovers before traveling the short distance to Whetstone for the County Cup Final on 4th May.

Blackburn look to be the threat to promotion, important victory over them the other week.

We've got our tickets for the cup game, a group of about 15 kids and parents from the girls team.

If if you don't mind my asking and apologies if you've mentioned it and I've forgotten/missed it, but what's your connection with the team, are you a supporter, involved in the club in some capacity or connected to one of the players ect...?

Sorry only just seen this! Great to hear you've got tickets - who is the girls team you're with?

I'm the Media Manager (volunteer) at Leicester City Women.

Enjoy the game today, hopefully a better result than yesterday!

A good game today though a shame about the result, unfortunately we just couldn't get that second goal when 1-0 up and on top.

The girls really enjoyed it, waving their flag and cheering and getting the subs to give them a wave as they warmed up. It was also a lovely touch that a few of the girls came over after and had a chat with them and posed for photos, the keeper let some of them wear her medal. It was also nice to hear the girls discussing who their favourite players where. Thank the players, that despite the result, they've really helped to encourage our girls in not only playing but also showing a wider interest in football.

Really glad the girls enjoyed it! A shame about the result but a great experience for our players. A first ever national cup final for the club and out of our squad over half of them are under 21. At least 4 are only 18 and in their first season at senior level so a fantastic achievement none the less!

league Cup Final

Blackburn 3 - LCWFC 1.

Leicester were disappointed to leave the Proact Stadium empty handed on Sunday as they played their first ever national cup final. The Foxes made a bright start to the game and found themselves 1-0 up inside 15 minutes through Sophie Domingo.

Leicester could have doubled their lead soon after when they continued to press the Rovers defence but failed to find the back of the net and Blackburn began to grow into the game.

A penalty for Rovers on the half hour mark levelled the scores and Rovers also had a goal disallowed minutes before half time.

In the second half Leicester again made chances to retake the lead but couldn't beat an experienced Rovers goalkeeper and Blackburn then took the lead for the first time with a header from a corner and just 15 minutes left to play.

Blackburn's third came in the 90th minute as Leicester had been pushing for an equaliser.

The foxes regroup and go again in another Cup Final on Friday night, this time looking to collect the County Cup for the first time since 2014!

Yes, we did comment how young they were, great experience for them, and it's clear they're good players and things are only going to get better for them. Hopefully with promotion this season.

How many teams get promoted, I've tried looking on the Internet and it's all a bit confusing regarding league restructure and applying for licenses ect.

Hi mate, yes it is all a bit confusing! Basically, they are restructuring over the Summer (announcement on 29th May) to take the top tier into fully professional teams. There are I think 9 teams who have applied for licences but only 1/2 have applied for tier 1, the rest are looking for tier 2.

In terms of league promotion, the winner of the Northern Division will play against the winner of the Southern Division (Likely to be Charlton Athletic) in a one off play off final at Bramall Lane (27th May) for automatic promotion. So from our division, it's only the top team, and our defeat in the league to Blackburn on Sunday means it's looking unlikely to be us.

The girls had a fantastic time down there Sunday (despite the result). All the staff and players were so friendly and really made it a special day for them from the moment they got there right until the moment they left. We'll definitely be coming back to watch matches next season and hopefully be able to watch a promotion campaign. I'd also recommend anyone else to go and see for yourself next season and take your kids, the footballs good and competitive and there's a good friendly atmosphere. And you can enjoy a beer while watching the footy :D We had a really enjoyable afternoon.

This is really just a community relations exercise.

In France their are schools of excellence where the best young talent gets training from national coaches (it's the same for most sports). I could give you the names of 6 bachelor sports science girls of mine who could walk into the LCFC women's team next season if they wanted to get young talent into the team.
