Popular Post baldeagle Posted 6 April 2018 Popular Post Share Posted 6 April 2018 (edited) Brilliant knews means I might be able to go to a match again . And some of the self righteous comments on here are unbelievable. Some of us can’t get to every game week in week out for one reason or another or afford a season ticket that doesnt mean we are less of a supporter . I haven’t managed to go to a single game since we’ve have been back in the premiership but I’ve watched it or listened to every game on tv, stream or radio . I have lost count of how many championship games I have been to and Division 1 as I’ve been supporting Leicester for over 35 years . Quit often at the last minute I can get a free Saturday where I could go and watch the game but I don’t even bother trying as I know there will be no tickets . It would be nice to occasionally actually be able to go to a game and I am sure there are others in he same boat . Ian Nacho Posted 6 April 2018 Share Posted 6 April 2018 A friend of my dad's works for a company that specialises in building football stadiums and the club enquired regarding increasing the capacity. From what I know there would be another tier added to the East Stand. The club also bought some land behind the East Stand recently which could explain new facilities. Exciting times. 2
Fox in the North Posted 6 April 2018 Share Posted 6 April 2018 After a bit of a google, I’ve found someone’s idea what the east stand may look like. Anything similar to this can’t be bad at all! https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/model/824179c935503a0b087f70c6150aed7/Walkers-Stadium-East-Stand-Expansion

Popular Post jayfox26 Posted 7 April 2018 Popular Post Share Posted 7 April 2018 I really don't understand the negativity from so many on here about this. This is a fantastic thing the owners are doing for our club and rather than owners just coming in and spending loads on transfers and wages and then sodding off leaving a club with ridiculous debts, our owners are actually looking to build for the long term and are trying to improve our club. We know we can never compete with the likes of United, Chelsea and City but why not be the best of the rest. We are building a very strong squad, have a great youth set up, are improving the training facilities and are now improving our stadium, it's facilities and the area around our stadium. I genuinely cannot see how this is a bad thing. We are becoming one of the biggest clubs in the country thanks to our owners and we should all be happy with that. Having a great stadium and great facilities is also a way to attract top players. Other than Everton (with their new stadium on the way) I can't see how any player would want to sign for another club outside the top 6 than us.

The top six are unrealistic to be expecting to challenge long term but I'd like us to compete with Everton, West Ham and Newcastle longer term. The likes of Leeds and Villa could be threats as well in the future. We need to try and pull away from the likes of Stoke, Southampton, Palace, etc and aim on being a solid top ten club long term. I realise attendance and the revenue from it isn't a great deal but we need to build the profile of the club so we're thought of as a permanent PL team rather than a yoyo team.
urban.spaceman Posted 7 April 2018 Share Posted 7 April 2018 Great news!! Just think - in a couple of years time we could be safestanding in our newly upgraded 45,000 stadium as the team arrives from the newly opened world class training ground. Can't wait. @Ashley tell us more!

Just think of our catchment area for this and the future it's very exciting times ahead at our club how anyone can be a negative Nigel about it is beyond me. Oh and we got promoted that season. From memory I think we won 3-2? and went on about a 15 match unbeaten run if I remember rightly. It was probably the coldest I've ever been at a game. Great news about the expansion and will enable more true fans to go who have been priced out.

Popular Post TheyCallMeMrCarbohydrate Posted 7 April 2018 Popular Post Share Posted 7 April 2018 For me the debt argument is a non starter. The reason being that we are in a new era of profitability for the club. The new training ground has already paid for itself with the profits from last season alone. Selling Mahrez in the summer will probably pay for the ground works! And we can buy new players out of the massive new TV deal and out of our cash reserves. These things should have been paid for even if we were to be relegated in the next 3-5 years. we’re living in a whole new world when compared to our last two relegations from the prem. The atmosphere couldn’t possibly get any worse than it is at the moment anyway so that argument goes out of the window too. It’s now or never with these projects and I for one don’t want to die wondering.
st albans fox Posted 7 April 2018 Share Posted 7 April 2018 If we are announcing that we are at the very early stages then we are further in that that! I expect this is a good way of flushing out any opposition (they want to gauge that there isn’t really any) and some better ideas than they already had before they finalise the plans. (If there are any)

splinterdream Posted 7 April 2018 Share Posted 7 April 2018 I'll be buying 3. Was a season ticket holder for years, stopped for a while whilst i studied with the OU then had my daughter and now can't get one so more than welcome news, can't come soon enough. Didn't we have 45k at Filbert St when it was standing?
