Claude Puel hints at contract extension for Wes Morgan

We'll he's only got a year left and we need a back up so it will be him next season.

This will almost certainly be the case.

We'll sign another centre half and Morgan will be third in the pecking order and will leave next summer. It suits all parties.

Doesnt really suit us.

He can't get form playing every week

Imagine having to rely on him if we get an injury and he hasn't played for 6 months.

You keep Wes if his wage demands are reasonable and he is a genuine captain / role model to the wider squad.  Obviously his infidelity nonewithstanding.

i can’t see him playing next session but we will need cover if/when Benny and Huth go

Wes became a Premier League player at aged 30. Before that he was on average Championship wages all his career. I'm assuming he wants to make as much as he can whilst he's with us.

You make it look as if he was living off scraps at Forest and when he was with us in the Championship.

On pretty much every goal we conceded against Spurs, Wes was lumbering around desperately out of position somewhere. If he stays in the team next season it'll be a sad sight.

Pretty much. He's been directly or indirectly costing us at least a goal a game for months.

It's all relative of course.

On pretty much every goal another players was far more culpable than Wes. How on earth a deflected goal, what looked like an offside goal (not seen replay), a shocking error by Gray, Simpson and Hamza gets turned into a slating of Wes I don't know.

Not sure why this is even still a debate, he didn't even saying anything about a new contract and was just diplomatic.

I bet he earned more with Forest and with us in the Championship in a month than your regular Joe Doe does in a year.

If he's struggling financially, then that doesn't bode well for the future, does it?

"Personal circumstances" as in "financial difficulties"?

This?

If so, sad to hear.

And may explain some of his performances on the pitch as of late.

....and his (ex?) fiancee is so much hotter than the mistress?!?!.   Its a strange world.

It's not that he'll be struggling financially but this time next year Morgan may retire and he'll be 35 with another 55 years of life expectancy and his income will fall of a cliff. He'll be used to a certain lifestyle at the moment and will possibly be spending more than he's earning in two years time and find himself getting poorer as each year passes.

He may be spending £250k a year to maintain his lifestyle today which is no problem when he takes home £1.6m per year but in a couple of years his earnings may be £100k a year and he has to choose to either curb his lifestyle or get poorer year on year.
