Foxes or Wolves....?

Recommended Posts

OhYesNdidi is correct regarding Nino. He is successful in his first season then he struggles the following season and usually gets the push. Could be different this coming season with money available to him. Depends if he has influence with the transfers. Mendes usually runs the show on transfers with the aim of making a profit. Will be interesting to see what happens.

Wolves & foxes..

Roamed And ravaged Northern & Southern Woods
Most Folks, Who Caught A Glimpse
Said, ‘They’s Up To No Good! ‘ …

But, Few Brave Enough To Follow
Their Trail, Into The Night
Past The Thickets and The Holler’
And Thru The H'field Swamp, Saw A Sight …

The Wolf and The Fox
Swam A River, By Moonshine
Jumped Across A Dam,

somewhere near Fulham
To Escape A gunners Line …

And There in Cardiff on The Wildlife Side
Wolf, Was Kicking His Heels, To Fox’s Trot!
Dancing ‘Round in Circles, Manu With M.city
‘Bout Huntin’, and What They Got …

There Was West Ham In A Hole
Chelseadads, Cpalace-Creole and L'pool Plump Lil’ Critters
They Were Herding Burnley Buffalo-Wings

and Other Watford Fowl-Things
And Puels-Frog-Legs, In Hot-Water, scouser-Fritters …

(now, Fox, had tried a forest-Dinner
but … It Just Wasn’t In ‘er!)
and Wolf Howled, Com’ On! As The Moonshine Shone
on Fresh, fighting-cock-Greens, Not Too Bitter

So, Merson-rancher and Farmer-hoddle, Don’t Be Alarmed
If You See The Wolf and A Fox
Just Leave ‘em Alone … They Mean You No Harm …
(Unless You Got An bird or cock

‘cause Brighton-seagulls & spurs-cock is a Favorite of Fox!)

A Wolf and A Fox
Roamed A Midlands Wood
Now, Those Who Run In Their MOTD Circles
Finally Understood …

With the exception of florist and dirtby, I prefer fellow midlands clubs to do well. Hope they stay up personally.

An orange strip in the PL is also a welcome change.

Good start is crucial, as it is for 15 or so clubs, including us.

As a Wolves fan once corrected me for calling it orange on DM it's old gold.

This perfectly sums up the point I was going to make.

There's a lot of hype surrounding them, but let's be clear, the PL is a completely different beast to the Championship and as our Nigel used to say 'It's about fine margins'.

Wolves have ambitious owners admittedly, but so do we. What you have to remember is that when you're a middle of the road club it's always a challenge to push on to the next level, as you don't have the heritage or the infrastructure of the very top teams to attract the very top tier of player's. Look at how difficult we found it to recruit top class player's immediately after we won the league. Even some of our own player's at the time despite being reigning Champions were happy to move to so called bigger teams who weren't in the CL and had finished significantly lower than ourselves.

Everyone thinks that because they have Jorge Mendes on side that they'll continue on this upward trajectory. If anything, I'd argue it's what will ultimately prevent them from being a top 6 side. Whilst Mendes clearly represents some very talented player's, he's going to find it difficult to find the balance between keeping Wolves sweet and maintaining viable relations with the top 6, Man City, Man Utd, et. al. We all know how much influence the top 6 have over the PL, so it'll be interesting to see whether they call his relationship into question if Wolves start getting offered the cream of the crop. Therefore, I can only see them being offered the cast offs that the big boys don't want which means at best they'll be competing for 7th and below, along with ourselves, Everton, and possibly West Ham (if they can get their act together).

Finally, the sad reality of the situation and another barrier that will stop them breaking the top 6 is their geographical location isn't very appealing unlike, London and Manchester. Let's be honest, Wolverhampton as a city is up there with the likes of the Stoke's and Hull's of this world; anyone with any sense would avoid it like the plague. Yes, they have Birmingham within driving distance, but I'd hardly say that's much of an upgrade in all fairness.

I really don't like the Dog Heads. Hopefully finish bottom with 12 points so Derby remain the shittest team in Prem History.

Realistically they will probably do quite well although really would need to re asses after the recruitment is over, but big ask to finish above us assuming we don't have a melt down, we are established have spending power and and still have a decent proportion of title winning players in the side. Plus quite pleased with our business so far this summer.

Always hated Wolves.

Steve Bull, Mark 'Wolves are a bigger club' McGhee, dodgy dealings and buying promotion, 'orrible place, what's to like?

Would happily see them sink without trace.

Not that I hold grudges or anything.

Can the PL clubs vote to bring in rule changes? If enough thought Wolves were up to any "skullduggery" regarding conflict of interests (Mendes), could the usual 14-6 majority bring about a change?

I am assuming the PL are much stronger than the EFL who took no action against Wolves despite complaints by Leeds and Villa.

Not that I hold grudges or anything.

My slight soft spot for them was simply because they shithoused florist in a league cup final when I expected florist to win tbh. Think Andy Gray scored if I remember correctly

I also like Led Zep and I think Robert Plant is a fan. It's that tenuous.

Otherwise, yeah, you're right, 'orrible club.

Edit - I can never truly hate Steve Bull either. As an English lad going to school in Scotland in the 70's and 80's, anyone who scored a winner against Scotland was an instant hero for me. Then I could large it in the school playground for another year instead of taking never ending abuse from 1200 jocks.
