Should go on a free transfer to Villa or another Championship club as we will get nothing from a loan deal and as he is out of contract for next season it’s daft to keep him on the books....

should go on a free?

You mean the club terminate his final year and pay it?

That makes no sense, this way they are saving last year of wages

Perfect move for him. Joining an exciting team and would surely play a number of games for them.

He has been a great player for us and still has something to offer, but I like the idea of giving Amartey his chance here.

He is much more mobile and offers a little more in attack.

Good.

We need him off tbe wage bill. He will not be an asset to Wolves as he doesn't fit their style. We need to trim our wage bill and move on guys who are surplus to requirement.

Slimani next please

How do you know he won't? Do you have a magic ball?

Surely we can’t be asking for much of a transfer fee why go for a season long loan?

Wolves probably aren't willing to give him a three year deal so a loan and they cover his wages is good for them and better than him staying here for us.

We’ve been watching him for 3 and a half years.

He’s never been particularly good for us overall; error prone, slow, can’t carry the ball and can’t pass.

He’s disciplined, works hard and benefitted from being around better players and a great tactical plan when we won the league but as an individual footballer he’s poor.

 It’s no loss at all and any impact he has on his new club will be minimal. It’s time to get shut of some of these.

Personal issues aside which seem to cloud a lot of people's view of his footballing ability I can't fault him.

He's the cover which allowed Mahrez to work his magic further down the pitch. He's bailed us out at the far post more times than I care to mention.

Solid right back just not a wing back.

baring in mind he had mahrez infront that wasn't naturally defensively minded it hardly made his life easier

Cut him some slack he was part of the team that won the league, he was solid not spectacular

A free is just a transfer with no fee.  We wouldn't have to pay up his contract.

I agree he needs to go, but deserves respect for what he has achieved here.  As one of the immortals, the 2016 team will be remembered from 1 to 11 and his name will be well known by our grandchildren.

Nope we're fine. The HG quota doesn't exist btw. It's non-HG that has a quota (max of 17 in the PL squad)

We are short of cover at wing-back, but I'm also not sure he fits our formation either.

The quota does exist - at least eight out of a squad of 25 players must've been coming through an English academy.

Of course, that doesn't mean the homegrown players need to be English, it's just that Simpson fits both profiles.

So far, you've signed

Traoré=Nurtured in Spain

Jota=Nurtured in Portugal

Boly=Nurtured in France

Afobe=English (now out on loan at Stoke, though)

Moutinho=Nurtured in Portugal

Bonatini=Nurtured in Brazil & Italy

Jimenez=Nurtured in Mexico

Rui Patricio=Nurtured in Portugal

Vinagre=Nurtured in Portugal & France

Castro=Nurtured in Spain

Meanwhile, you've lost three English players in Ikeme, Marshall and Flott.

Of course, you'll need more English players or at least those who have been in an English youth academy to balance all these new signings out.

Youre basically saying the same thing as far as i can see. What the Bear is saying is that its actually a non-hg max quota of 17 rather than a min-hg quota of 8 so as long as youre happy with a squad of just 17 you dont actually have to have any Hg players

Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly turned their attention to Leicester City defender Danny Simpson in the final hours of the transfer window, and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter are convinced he would be a panic buy.

According to the Daily Mail on its live blog (1:48pm, 9 August), they have enquired about the Foxes right-back after a move for Manchester City’s Oleksandr Zinchenko collapsed.

The report claims that Leicester would be open to the sale or loan exit of the 31-year-old after they signed Ricardo Pereira earlier in the summer.

It is also understood that Chelsea flyer Victor Moses is a potential target at full-back for Nuno Espirito Santo's side.

Simpson was part of the famous Leicester team that won the Premier League title in the 2015/16 campaign and he has a wealth of experience.

The English ace is a reliable defender with decent pace, but he is not too adventurous when in attacking positions.

Danny Simpson of Leicester City during the Premier League match between Leicester City and Arsenal at The King Power Stadium on May 9, 2018 in Leicester, England.

A selection of Wolves supporters on social media have reacted negatively to the club’s approach for Simpson, with the overall feeling suggesting that he would not be good enough at Molineux.

Here is some of the reaction to the Simpson speculation:
