It is, it was, and nothings going to change. Love Vardy to bits like all of us do but he made a poor decision, we have to move on.

sometimes he loses it a bit, it’s part of who he is and I wouldn’t have him any other way. Sometimes though, you have to accept, shit happens.

Yes it was. The rules of the game state:

A tackle or challenge that endangers the safety of an opponent or uses excessive force or brutality must be sanctioned as serious foul play.

Any player who lunges at an opponent in challenging for the ball from the front, from the side or from behind using one or both legs, with excessive force or endangers the safety of an opponent is guilty of serious foul play.

Can you really in good faith state that Vardy's challenge did not endanger Doherty? Because he went in from the side, at the knee with the studs showing.

Stop attention seeking. Why does this need a thread we discussed it to death in the match thread and the post match thread?

The upshot was anyone with half a brain agreed it was a red card a few people who miss football played to half empty stadiums in the 80's, where any flair players were kicked out the game said it wasn't.

The thing is by the laws of the game, we wouldn’t win an appeal on that sending off now. You will probably find an age difference in thoughts on this, those of us in the 30+ category grew up with tackles like this being on of the best parts of the English game and would say not a red. Unfortunately this sort of tackle with excessive force has been outlawed for the last 10 years or so.

Not going to argue if it was red or not, but.. "endangers the safety of an opponent"? Is that all it takes? Plenty of challenges lead to a player being injured, should all those then be reviewed and the players given suspensions?

If all you bleeding heart liberals think that was a red card, you are what is wrong with the game. The opponent only got hurt because he bottled the tackle and then rolled around a la Naymar.

Yes Vardy went in hard, but he is a proper player, go in half hearted and you end up getting hurt.

I realise in 2018 that they are trying to make football a non contact sport, but if you make everybody like Nacho who shirks every tackle, then we night as widely play netball.

Ok, I am from a different era, but all you do gooders are killing the game.

We got a winner here.

Nothing to do with being from another era, you're just being daft.

If that had been a Wolves player doing that to one of ours everyone on here would have been screaming for the red card. It was a ridiculous challenge from Vardy and completely unwarranted. Personally, I think Vardy's time with us is drawing to a close he obviously doesn't fit our new style of play and is too one dimensional, hence his frustration. That kind of tackle is no longer tolerated in the modern game and quite right too.

It’s got sod all to do with liberals or do gooders. It’s about the laws of the game as they are now. It was most definitely a deserved red card.

Had that tackle been committed by a Wolves player not one person on here would be claiming a sending off was undeserved.
