BR’s first press conference

He’s more likely to play the lead in a remake of dynasty than to create one here and last a long time

If he is successful he will leave for a bigger job in two or three seasons

if he isn’t then he will more than likely be relieved of his duties

not sure how the middle ground scenario plays out but it could do if we have some good cup runs and then perhaps he would manage to see out his contract ....

stilll not a dynasty .....

Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea are the only other big jobs he'd likely get.  I don't see why Leicester can't be a top 4 team - they've got the clout from their title win, and now the manager..

I admire your optimism .........

FFP has stacked the dice against that possibility for more than the odd season in a decade ......

if if he did brilliantly here then any of the top six bar Liverpool would consider him (yanited obvs an issue)

Looking forward to listening to our press conferences and pre / post match interviews again instead of the same repetitive drivel we got accustom to.

Appointing Rodgers has really given me the buzz back and actually made these last 10 games seem worthwhile again, I cant wait for that to all come crashing down again on Sunday afternoon!

He sounded a bit tired and tried not to stir up too much faux press controversy after the departure from Celtic.

Held his act together bravely - the main answer to all these questions will likely to be given on the pitch comes Sunday.

Thought he came across well, especially with some difficult questions re. leaving Celtic - he's a good public speaker, a very gilded tongue. Hopefully he backs that up with a positive performance on Sunday and many more games thereafter.

Celtic are content with being a big fish in a small pond. They enjoy winning trophies every year, and bowing out early in the champions league stages. If they had ambition, they would have joined the Premier League ages ago. They could have retained their manager, and had real money spend in the transfer market to compete in Europe (should they have qualified).

They can look outward and blame Brendan Rodgers for being disloyal, and they can blame Leicester City for poaching their manager, but the real blame lies at their own feet. They had the chance to evolve with the changing landscape of world football, and they chose to stay the same. Now, Premier League money has become the great equalizer, and even a mid table premier league club is bigger than the likes of Celtic.

There is no such thing as a massive club in a crap league.  Who but their own fans wants to watch a good professional side drill semipros week after week?  60K at home and 5K away.  Third round Carabao Cup is fun once a year, not over and over as a league “competition”.

Celtic fans glory in their three trophies a year, but they can’t have it both ways, except in their wee minds.  Which Rodgers just exploded with a dose of hard truth.  They are nowhere near as relevant as an ambitious provincial PL club.

The Scottish Premiership can no longer produce a flagship capable of competing in Europe.

Yes but admit it we all longed for Claude to give us something to hang onto in his press conferences rather than the usual uninspiring monologues but it never happened. Would you rather a rousing optimism (that you know is bullsh*t, but at least it is amusing/motivating bullsh*t) or have your manager tell you that we cannot compete with the likes of Wolves and West Ham.  He can ladle it on as thick as he likes for me as long as we are winning a few games and producing decent football.

Amen to that. You'll go to the end of the world for a great leader even if they make the wrong decision. A poor leader has their decisions questioned and no one trusts them. Of course we all hope the new manager also knows what he is doing, but I felt that with Puel even though he may well have known what he is doing, he could not lead our players or captivate our fans to believe in him or his ideas. And this ultimately cost him his job, because it lead to poor results against teams we should beat.

Let's be fair, if Celtic were offered the opportunity to join the EPL, they would JUMP at the chance. No second thoughts. There isn't a way in for them though, that's the issue.

This guy should be special. For me it's about next season. The remainder this should be about collectively bringing the squad together. His input will take time but no doubting his potential. Don't read too much in to Watford or next couple as Rome not built in a day but the club feels like it's in good hands.

Some of the comments on the Facebook stream just beggar belief. Cringeworthy stuff.

Football supporters are the worst. So many absolute amoebas.

There certainly isn't a way in for them now.

Why do I get the feeling we've traded an Algerian invasion on social media for a Celtic one, bunch of inbred wankers! 😠

Some salty Celtic fans around but good to see there's still plenty of salty Leicester fans hanging around the BR threads too. :nono:

I've always tried hard to overlook the way Puel was with his bland persona but it really is quite refreshing to listen to that and it's hard to get away from.
