Ex Players - They used to play for us.

Recommended Posts

Leicester City have made a strong start to the season after investing heavily in the squad over the summer.

In came Youri Tielemans (£40m), Ayoze Perez (£30m), Dennis Praet (£18m) and James Justin (£6m).

There were plenty of departures though with a number of players leaving. Here, we take a look at where they are now and how they are getting on.

Harry Maguire
Joined Manchester United for £80m after a more than year-long pursuit. The England defender hit the ground running and has delivered a series of impressive displays at Old Trafford.

How Caglar Soyuncu has outperformed Manchester United's Harry Maguire to ensure comfortable transition

Shinji Okazaki
The Premier League title winner ended a hugely successful four-year association with the Foxes when his contract expired at the end of last season.

The 33-year-old then moved to Spanish second tier side Malaga, only to have his contract cancelled this week after just 34 days at the club as to keep him would have broken a salary cap.

After being treated so terribly, the Japan international didn't have to wait long for a new club, joining Huesca and staying in Spain.

Callum Elder
The 24-year-old left-back spent eight years with City but joined Hull City for an undisclosed fee last month.

Elder, who signed a three-year contract, completed six loan spells during his time as a professional with the Foxes.

He is yet to feature for Hull this season.

Danny Simpson
Another Premier League winner, Simpson left at the end of his contract and remains a free agent.

The 32-year-old saw a trial with Celtic collapse and has also been linked with Brighton and Crystal Palace, as well as French top flight club Amiens.

Davide Lorenzo
The Italian forward's arrival in Leicester came about in odd fashion after he met late chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha while working as a waiter in Nice.

Lorenzo was with Juventus as a youngster and was offered a trial, earning a deal until the end of the season.

The 25-year-old was released when his deal ended and remains without a club.

Lamine Kaba Sherif
A midfielder who was in the Under-23s set-up, the 20-year-old joined Fleetwood Town on a two-year deal.

He has appeared once this season, as a late substitute against Lincoln in League One.

Louis Ramsay
A right-back who spent a year in the Under-23s after being released by Norwich. Leicester let him leave after his one-year deal ended and the 21-year-old has signed for National League South side Billericay Town.

Max Bramley
The goalkeeper spent the first half of last season on loan at AFC Telford United but is still a free agent.

Kairo Edwards-John
The left-winger was a regular for the under-23s and had trials with Walsall, Wycombe and Nuneaton this summer, but remains without a club.

Habib Makanjuola
The former Chelsea youngster is still on the lookout for a new team.

Alassane Meite
The young forward is now playing in the United Arab Emirates after joining Al-Fujairah on a free last month.

Former Leicester City striker Leo Ulloa will take on Shinji Okazaki this season after the Argentinian returned to Spain.

Earlier this week, Ulloa left Mexican side Pachuca and joined Rayo Vallecano in the Segunda Division, heading back to Spain for the first time in six years.

Jonny Hayes Reveals Brendan Rodgers Text and Talks Neil Lennon
By Michael Ross - September 9, 2019

JONNY HAYES banged in the all-important second against The Rangers at Ibrox at the start of the month sending the 750 strong Celtic fans into raptures.
The Irishman came on as a late substitute for Mikey Johnstone and his pace and quick thinking helped Celtic break away on the counter in the dying embers of the game.

The Rangers were out on their feet and even though Allan McGregor saved the first shot and there were three defenders around him, he managed to get the second shot away to grab the goal.

The Celtic player was the unlikeliest of goal scorers on the day and not even Jonny could have envisioned what would happen. However, the Celtic midfielder had no time to celebrate after the game. Some might have went out and milked the moment but Jonny, who is a proper family man went home for an early night because he was up at 6:30am on Monday morning to do his UEFA coaching badges.

“Unfortunately for me I was up at half-six on Monday morning, driving to Edinburgh,” he says, “so I didn’t really get much of a celebration beyond getting to bed early and a good night’s sleep. Then the nerves kicked in for this course.”
The Celtic winger/left back also confirmed in the article he shared a classroom on the Monday morning with Andy Halliday and Jamie Murphy. I wonder how they were doing.

As the player looks to get his licence he is trying to draw on all his experience in the game and revealed he contacted Brendan Rodgers

“There’s not many better tactically in the game,” Hayes confirmed about Rodgers.

“I texted him last night about planning a session for tomorrow, letting him know I was doing this programme, and he was happy for me. A lot of coaches now are trying to replicate his methods.”
Jonny also had high praise for his current Celtic boss.

“Neil Lennon has a very different style (from Rodgers), he’ll tell you that himself, but people outside — if you don’t know Neil, you don’t realise how good a person he is,” Hayes says. “I’ve heard numerous stories about him picking up his own players, calling his players, really looking after players. I’ve never heard a bad word about him inside the club.”

Former Leicester City striker Billy Kee is undergoing specialist treatment for depression, anxiety and bulimia, his club Accrington Stanley have announced.

Kee has not played during the current campaign and did not report back for pre-season training over the summer due to "personal reasons".

The 28-year-old has spoken openly in the past about his struggles and on Tuesday Accrington released a statement explaining his absence.

"Billy Kee would like to thank everyone for their ongoing messages of support as he battles depression, anxiety and bulimia," said the club on their official website.

"The striker has spoken out over the years about his ongoing issues but over the summer he has deteriorated and has been unable to return to play football for the Reds this season.

"He is currently under specialist treatment and the club is doing what it can to support Billy, who has been an integral part of the side both on and off the pitch for a number of years."

Kee grew up in Leicestershire and was prolific for the club's academy, but was released in 2010 without making a senior appearance.

He had spent the final year of his City career on loan at Accrington and rejoined the club in 2015, scoring 74 goals in 196 games, helping them earn promotion from League Two to League One in 2018.

Best wishes to Billy. I know first hand, that's a struggle.

Unrelated but this thread name makes me laugh every time it gets bumped.

I think it should be, "Ex players - they used to play for us, but don't anymore, as they moved on to pastures new and are no longer with us. They were once, though."
