Our scoring numbers are well below what a 3rd place Prem team should have. Zaha is an elite RW. He will make our attacking players better by demanding extra attention. He would play a similar role to Mahrez for us, as he can beat defenders off the dribble and make something happen against a low block. Go borrow a young defender from somewhere and buy more goals, it is a no-brainer. Is Zaha the player he was?, 2 years ago I would be all over this, but now I think we can do better. I understand what you mean. He has done what Mahrez did with us in his last season. Clearly does not want to be there. His stats have been poor but he is a superb player. He will improve our starting 11 but will cost 50mill plus. Zaha, Vardy and Barnes is a very good front 3. Barnes and Zaha can swap sides during games. Would be a great signing.

KingsX 5,694 Posted 31 July 2020 Report Share Posted 31 July 2020 Zaha has destroyed his own valuation ... though I would guess not the asking price. He'll be there until Palace go down. Which could be next season (at which point he'll be nearly 29). There are so many younger, hungrier, more productive options this summer at £60M or whatever, it's laughable.

Even in his pomp he's not done that, the shit house. 4
shailen 2,001 Posted 31 July 2020 Report Share Posted 31 July 2020 Despite all the money that we have, we cannot move away from our transfer strategy. Only sign players on the up with something to prove, I wouldn't like to see proven players here as I'm worried they'll see us as a step down and not really give their all for the club. I'd rather we sign players who want to use us as a stepping stone as at least whilst they are here they will help take us to another level and who knows it might end up establishing us as a top club and they might end up wanting to stay.

splinterdream 748 Posted 31 July 2020 Report Share Posted 31 July 2020 Zaha has illusions of grandeur, I don't think he wants to join us, he believes he's better than that. He's on £130k a week and at his peak. If he was willing to take a pay cut and was on the £30m mark I'd be happy otherwise we should look elsewhere

Crazy to think we may have not got Kante had he stayed so he might have made himself even more of a legend.
Jazzy_Jeff 288 Posted 1 August 2020 Report Share Posted 1 August 2020 Zaha would be a great fit for us but I wouldn’t break the bank for him Our strategy leans towards buying younger players with resale value so can see us going for Sarr/Brooks/Cantwell instead
Nicolo Barella 2,769 Posted 2 August 2020 Report Share Posted 2 August 2020 I rate Zaha but he's a better LW than RW and we should be spending the money more wisely. To be honest I think his productivity would increase a lot in a team like ours, though.
TheLittleBigMan 898 Posted 2 August 2020 Report Share Posted 2 August 2020 Zaha will never play for us. And he's got a weird face.

His age, no resale value and stats of about 4 goals in 38 games gives himself a value for me of 40m max. In Palace hadn't have been so stubbornly greedy last year they could have cashed in handsomely.
Fox92 11,764 Posted 2 August 2020 Report Share Posted 2 August 2020 Tbf to Zaha, I'm not disagreeing about his assists and goal numbers which I've always felt are poor, but he does play in a poor Palace side. He'd get more assists playing with Vardy.
yag101 50 Posted 2 August 2020 Report Share Posted 2 August 2020 Zaha is a fantastic dribbler and one of the most skilful players in the league, but we need goals from wide. We need a natural finisher to bury the many chances we create. Which Zaha is not.
shailen 2,001 Posted 2 August 2020 Report Share Posted 2 August 2020 I'm not a fan of Zaha at all. He has the ability to produce the sublime but is far too inconsistent and needs far too many chances to score. I think any team that pays £40m + for him may regret it.

majaco 1,149 Posted 2 August 2020 Report Share Posted 2 August 2020 Great player, Zaha. But I don't think he's what we need. I hope we get Brooks who I would see is a player who could get (or create) a late goal in tight match. We don't have enough players who regularly do that. Maddison, Ienacho and Vardy seem the most likely currently. A right sided forward player has to be priority. If we get one, the next weakest link in our first 11 would , in my opinion, be Barnes. Barnes is likely to improve further.
Walkers 2,777 Posted 2 August 2020 Report Share Posted 2 August 2020 It is amusing that fans want us to keep hold of our better players yet want us to restrict ourselves to buying players who will have a sell on value. We need a winger in his prime, though I wouldn't be keen on Zaha after last season and the silly fee Palace will demand

Zahas age is what put's the fee so high and the likely resale as lower, just need to source players that are 1-2 years from really breaking through. Even Vardy signing at 25 shows this age, even allows for the odd late bloomer, that can emerge. Edited 2 August 2020 by Beachyboy
FOXYTALK 259 Posted 2 August 2020 Report Share Posted 2 August 2020 Wouldn't sign Zaha. Doesn't show ambition and happy to take 130k pw at Palace. Wouldn't improve our staring xi imo.

The question is value always when going into the market, anything over £20 million for him doesn't offer that, any team would take him for anything less than that, but obviously Palace don't need to sell so he will probably end up going to Everton for £50 million.
