Popular Post Corky 12,850 Posted 23 November 2020 Popular Post Report Share Posted 23 November 2020 Learning on the job is the best experience for him. He's had a long run of matches and has improved in that time. I think we've got a long-term player here.
TJB-fox 2,131 Posted 23 November 2020 Report Share Posted 23 November 2020 Probably doing him a dis justice here but to think that ‘on paper’ he won’t be anywhere near the starting XI when our big hitters return shows how much our squad has grown. Turning into a really really good player. I was incredibly critical of him early doors, still not his biggest fan now but really impressed me lately.

The majority of us here won't know what it takes to be a professional footballer and like any job the more experienced you get the better you become. At an elite level it is equally about mental strength and attitude as it is ability. I've been really impressed with him since the start of the season. I'd like to be that he's going to become one of those 7/10 players week in week out. He's, strong, athletic and clearly able to assimilate the coaching he's receiving and put it into practice where it counts. A major plus for us, well done JJ
Hansifüx 89 Posted 23 November 2020 Report Share Posted 23 November 2020 Justin is such a good allrounder, a modern player with a great engine. I like mendy and tielemans but you can not play them together against some teams. In retrospective I could have imagined justin playing defensive midfield against liverpool instead of mendy or tielemans who looked always a step too slow and weren't able to carry the ball forward. casablancas 735 Posted 26 November 2020 Report Share Posted 26 November 2020 Said or before and I’ll say it again ... I see an England call up before the end of the season if he stays for and keep minutes under his belt. Big if that.
UpTheLeagueFox 9,508 Posted 27 November 2020 Report Share Posted 27 November 2020 I think he's played RB, RWB, LB, LWB and CD this season. Pretty sure someone said he'd also played every minute in the PL or thereabouts. He's played in all 4 UEL games, starting 3. If we were injury-free he'd rarely start. Still learning the craft at the higher level but plenty to be excited about.
nnickn 193 Posted 27 November 2020 Report Share Posted 27 November 2020 he is a must, even when riccy and chestnut back, he will be in team

I reckon hes well & truely learnt the craft, this past year...Now like all young potential Not so well known players, just needs to carry honing & developing his skills.. Ditto for Thomas....Its Great to know..Ricardo & Castagne must Not be rushed back, and can be cautiously Eased back. Even all 4 covering WB... Find a couple of other young uns, for CB Cover of Soyu & Fofana ( wo'd have thought he would settel & Nestle down so comfortably) then our Bline will be nion perfect ...
majaco 914 Posted 6 December 2020 Report Share Posted 6 December 2020 I was thinking how well Justin has done. He is much improved. He has played over half a season barely missing a minute and he is not even first choice. I think he has been boosted by Fofana's arrival. He seems to have become more aggressive. The way each carries the ball has some similarities. I think he still has some way to go to be first choice if all are available but he is getting there.

He came in having never played higher than League One, knowing he'd play second fiddle, and so far he's played LB, RB, CB, LWB and RWB and really excelling in all of them. Yet another excellent buy.
blueharmie 449 Posted 6 December 2020 Report Share Posted 6 December 2020 The definition of stepping upto the plate should now be called a James Justin
dmayne7 1,033 Posted 6 December 2020 Report Share Posted 6 December 2020 Was up and down at the start of the season, showing his lack of experience. But he's arguably been our most consistent player this season and even in the past 2 months, he's improved a lot.
Popular Post Ric Flair 20,319 Posted 6 December 2020 Popular Post Report Share Posted 6 December 2020 He has really grown in consistency and authority this season and we are in fine fettle with him, Ricardo, Castagne and Thomas as our 4 full backs. He is equally as quality playing as a 3rd centre half in a back 3 which I actually think might be his best position so far!
UniFox21 7,322 Posted 6 December 2020 Report Share Posted 6 December 2020 I've mentioned this a few times, but if England are to continue utilising the 3 at the back system, JJ would be a brilliant player to have in the squad. Able to cover both full back positions and as a RCB. We currently have Maitland-Niles in this role, who isn't particularly a regular for Arsenal.

I was a bit surprised to see Maitland -Niles called up for England. I have seen him do some good things but inconsistently. Southgate's bias for players fro certain clubs is exhibited in this choice. Will England internationals , Tomori and Hudson-Odoi become regulars at Chelsea? Winks at Tottenham?
whoareyaaa 2,375 Posted 6 December 2020 Report Share Posted 6 December 2020 still got a lot to learn and a better final ball but overall considering the amount of games he played and his previous experience he has done pretty well and is getting better every game
Claridge 750 Posted 6 December 2020 Report Share Posted 6 December 2020 Done really well, but is still fairly average as you would expect at this stage of his career.
Spudulike 3,205 Posted 6 December 2020 Report Share Posted 6 December 2020 I thought he was very good today. So much energy getting up and down that flank and putting in some decent tackles and blocks. The team would've struggled this season without him.

And of the defensive positions, LWB, where he played today, is where he’s least effective. Still did a job.
Fktf 614 Posted 6 December 2020 Report Share Posted 6 December 2020 Needs to start taking his man on, even if it is just pushing the ball past him and using his pace. A lot of our dithering comes from him and albrighton passing back from 1 on 1 situations.
FerrisBueller 540 Posted 6 December 2020 Report Share Posted 6 December 2020 Been one of our most consistent players this year, doesn’t quite have the ability to beat a man but he’s steady every game and does the defensive stuff well, wherever he plays. I’m a big fan personally.
RowlattsFox 2,221 Posted 6 December 2020 Report Share Posted 6 December 2020 Did ok but for me its clear left wing back is his weakest role so far. Can't fault his effort as always. Better on the right where he can use his pace better.

Great addition the squad and I can see him keeping that LB / LWB spot for a while yet.

It’s a tricky one, I’d be inclined to play Ricardo and Castagne because of their goal/assist output but it does seem unfair on JJ. If we are still having injuries at CB I’d much rather he play there if we are going to persist with 3 at the back.
