I can only think of Azpilicueta and Lahm who done it successfully at a high level. Maybe in the coming years we will see a huge trend in full backs being equally good on both sides. We've seen inverted wingers and ball playing goal keepers. Versatile full backs will ne next. ...is this to combat the inverted winger!!! The way the game has progressed seems to be defining the requirements of a manufactured player in order to combat something new. Good to see the dexterity of our Fullbacks but we can't be looking askew at defenders who can only play on one side.

dynamark 540 Posted 11 February Report Share Posted 11 February I think he may be OK it just didnt look like there was any serious movement other than the obvious jarring on landing.. Perhaps not saturday but midweek ?
Sunbury Fox 1,761 Posted 11 February Report Share Posted 11 February It's a real shame that he might miss Saturday's game as stopping Salah is key. Really don't fancy Fuchs or Thomas being able to deal with him effectively.

I doubt anybody on here is a qualified physio/sports scientist and even if they are they haven't assessed the player. Must have been 50 different prognosis and timeframes for recovery last night. 'Ooh that happened to me when 20 years ago and took me years to recover' Yep! Shocking that discussants would express personal opinions/suspicions on a DISCUSSION forum
The Guvnor 1,155 Posted 11 February Report Share Posted 11 February Physio room say James heard a popping sound from his knee. Hopefully nothing too serious but that would suggest an ACL injury .

He's right - go back and look at how many people were confidently and repeatedly telling us it was DEFINITELY an ACL injury. And what most people discuss in pub chat doesn't bear repetition, quite frankly (and no, I'd be no fun there either!). @hackneyfox was being unnecessarily "sanctimonious" (you just gottta love FT). There was absolutely NOTHING in my comment (nor in any comment that I have EVER made about Justin) that can be rationally classified as profferring a specific (nor in fact, any) medical condition or injury. There have been several instances where the managers says that the player is okay but decides to hold him out for a particular game (Under's recent "tightening" of the hamstring readily comes to mind, among others). Noticed that there is a tribe here that has seemingly constituted themselves into self-anointed arbiters of the substance of the comments of others or what players may be criticized. My (admittedly unsolicited) counsel to these lot is that they should simply scroll past the comments/posts they do not personally care for or proffer contrary substantive opinions if/where they disagree - rather than straying into Richard-Head territory. Knightie 0 Posted 11 February Report Share Posted 11 February Fairly sure I saw JJ this afternoon at the Shell garage just north of the new training centre, on the A46. Put his mask on just as he got out of a bright blue Range Rover Sport (it was the car that drew my attention, as I was stood paying), and he had a hoodie on, so not 100% sure it was him. Was definitely limping on his right leg, though, but no sign of a knee brace or crutches - which has to be a positive sign.

Sorry I quoted your post and you took it personally. Couldn't be bothered to quote everyone who gave their medical opinions, would have taken all night. Could have quoted a few more today as well. John12345 61 Posted 11 February Report Share Posted 11 February Really hoping its good news, but I'd question why Justin and Youri are playing near enough the full 90 of every game. Its no surprise they are going to pick up injuries. I know the importance of these players but better to miss the odd game than the rest of the season especially when you have opportunities to rest ie fa cup
