Nigel Pearson appointed Watford manager

Recommended Posts

He’s like that ex-girlfriend that I dumped, but I don’t want her to go out with anyone else.

Having said that, I wish him all the best and hope that Watford finish in the top 10.

Found a stream and watched the full 90. Strange wanting Watford to win so much. Love Nige.

It was the one I sought out when I fancied watching a game this afternoon too - they look a completely different side in terms of how organised they are in comparison to Flores' mess. Wesley had a half chance for Villa but that was it.

Deeney returning to fitness (after being injured for most of the season) is a huge boost for Watford. Perhaps not back to his best yet but Watford always seem more likely to score when he plays - and lack of goals has been a problem, particularly at home. I guess he is a Pearson type of player. Sarr, their record signing, is starting to look good too. Next 2 games are v Wolves (home) and Bournemouth away; 4 points and I can see NP pulling off the great escape for a second time. I hope he does.

Would be about the fifth time, wouldn't it?

Aside from our Great Escape....

- He was Carlisle manager when their loanee keeper, Jimmy Glass, scored with the last kick of the last match of the season to keep them in the league

- He was WBA assistant manager when they won on the last day, rising from rock bottom to 4th bottom to avoid PL relegation

- He was Southampton temporary manager in 2008 when they survived on the last day by winning their last game....sending us down to League 1.

He's something of a specialist! :D

In case anyone hasn't seen this or is too young to remember the injury time goal by loanee keeper Jimmy Glass that saved the league status of Carlisle, managed by a young Nigel Pearson....

I'm obviously a sentimental soul on the sly, but that brings tears to my eyes every time I watch it.....and I have no connection whatsoever to Carlisle (it's about the human/football drama, not just NP).

Brilliant. Watched it many times over the years but still gives goosebumps.

If it matters so much to you, why didn't you post one in HD, rather than indulge in pointless whinging? lol

Thanks. Great article on the human side of football.

Bringing it back on topic, loved this.....

"The players were nervous in the dressing room ahead of the Plymouth game. Nigel Pearson was in his first job in management and started to hand around a bottle of brandy. The players were taking a swig from it – unbelievable when you look back now, but the manager was trying to settle everyone down".

Won 11 of his last 15 premier league games

We would have won the league and possibly retained it with him !

No. We. Wouldn't.

You make it sound like he's been in PL for the last 3 years, when in fact he's been in Belgium doing pretty much nothing.

He'll keep Watford up I believe, but they won't be any more of a PL force than we were under him after the great escape.

Yes he would ! Created the platform for Claudio to continue on , Claudio even kept his backroom team !

The man is 11 wins in his last 15 in the toughest league in Europe ! Give him credit

without a doubt he would have won the league with us
