LCFC 1-0 Birmingham - Post-Match Thread

Good that we won. Bad that I just spent 90 minutes bored out my nut.

Snoring hell.

Horrible performance, struggled with anything that wasn't a 5 yard pass and quite incredible how panicked we were when we went a goal up.

Confidence is shot, they look a shadow of what they did before Christmas

Hopefully go along way to free-kick starting our season. First half wasnt great but second half looked more promising (if still not the standard we set early in the season). Still its an important confidence building victory and we're into the final 8 of the cup too.

A  stinker of great stinkiness. Worst display of the season, nothing to shout home about but a win is welcome.

A win is a win. Getting the feeling back is more important than you think.

Suck on that one Birtles, you utter turd.

Bang-average at best performance but credit to them for edging out Birmingham, so onto the quarter-finals!

Almost tempting fate here, but a question for you stattos out there:

When is the last time a club beat both Aston Villa and Birmingham City at home in the same week? :scarf:

"we move on" the most cringe saying in football

A turgid win. As I said after the last game, we seem to have stopped making runs in the final third to give any incisive options. Is that legginess?

Could have played better, but playing an on-form team from a lower league, whilst we are off form, and having to break down a parked bus, we were on a hiding to nothing.

We played OK 2nd half and don't think we should recognise how Brendan did well to coax a better 2nd half performance out the team.

Ricardo should potentially start Mondays game at RW, potentially be way more aggressive and involved than Perez in the winger position. Would give us extra defensive support against Grealish

Norwich going to extra time at Spurs . Man City only winning 1-0 at Sheffield Wednesday . Let’s not get too despondent - the result mattered more than the performance

I've been waiting for what feels like an age for a game where I feel like we're finally looking like stopping the glut of poor performances. This was not that game despite the end result.

What I thinks going wrong at the minute. In my own personal view. And yes I will slate some players in this post just to disclaim because some people on here act like they’re defending their child from criticism.

It’s hard to judge against a team like Birmingham because obviously they played pretty much the 90 minutes with 8 deep players and we simply didn’t have enough quality on the pitch to find that clinical edge.

Partially and equally,

-Maddison hasn’t been good with his playmaking and some of his decision making has been poor. He’s either dropping too deep and overtaking ndidi’s job at time I feel. Or going out wide and trying to play some Barcelona stuff with Chilwell who just isn’t on the same wavelength.

-This leaves a huge hole in the ‘Number 10’ and like in that game there’s no one to drop in there.

-Chilwell although he does get into some good positions attacking wise, still can’t pick out a sensible pass or cross 9/10 times.

-As a team attacking we’re just not looking for that killer pass and move often enough and of course they could of been told to play like that.

-Collectively as a lot of people will know we’re passing back A LOT and often it’s passes into players that put them under a great deal of pressure.

-Too much responsibility left to the single striker with a real lack of service through the middle and often poor decision making out wide.

Lastly, were the  commentators playing a drinking game to tick off every cliche in the book?

A lot better 2nd half and got the goal. Then we still managed to let them have 2 decent attempts in the last few minutes. Hope the confidence comes back soon.

Quarterfinals though. Not too shabby.....
