You sound bitter.

Absolutely.

And our unions are pathetic, they've just rolled over after a bit of a moan, like they do every time. We were all fully up for striking.

And please dont get me wrong, I'm not one of these militant socialist NHS workers, I get really annoyed at the entitlement and fart sniffing of some of them. I just want to be paid the appropriate amount for a skillset that I spent years building, as any trade do. Nursing is not a vocation.

Lost two people from my pre covid Leicester office this weekend, both after having received the vaccine apparently. Both left young children and were still young themselves, it's absolutely tragic. The lad was one of our own, too, followed City and England home and away.

I think I know the lad you’re referring to (a massive coincidence if it isn’t him) he was a good bloke and it’s absolutely tragic. 2 in the same place of work is very concerning as somebody who is yet to have the vaccine.

So what? 13 shifts a month is the same as a 37.5 hour working week (and they dont pay you for your breaks). If she groups her shifts so she has a nice run of days off she still worked all the hours either side to have those days off in a row. Also why should I have to work even more hours to top up my shit pay?

Nurses have 8.5 weeks of annual leave a year after 10 years of service, but you dont get bank holidays so it's not like it's a ridiculous amount. It's literally one of the few benefits you get.

The public are generally hypocrites. They dont want to pay for the best, but expect the best treatment for their loved ones if they're in hospital. You want us to have up to date knowledge and courses, but nurses have to pay for all their ongoing education because there's no money for it apparently.

That’s at least 30 days holiday once bank holidays are deducted  ......  most private sector workers get 20 days plus bank holidays so that’s not too bad. I wouldn’t swap though!

It's interesting to see how the media over here don't seem to mention when a blood clot death happens. Other countries in Europe do straight away, they do say it could be coincidental but they report it nevertheless .

As more incidents happen I wonder if this will change.

I think it might be my nephew (Danny) you're talking about. I'm devastated.

Shocking news - and desperately unlucky if he was (presumably) young and at a time when the pandemic is waning. Sorry to hear about this upset for you and close family.

It was the vaccine that killed him, not covid. A million to one chance.

12.5% is the RCN's figure.

That's never gonna happen is it? At best they'll give you 2-3% I'd imagine.

I'm a public sector engineer and even we've been told to expect redundancies, as well as a pay freeze for 2 years. They've also said to expect our T&Cs and benefits to get a lot worse, hopefully our union won't take it lying down.

Under 2k cases (1730) today for the first time since 5th September btw.

Really very sorry to hear that. Condolences to you and your family.

Very unlikely to be a million to one chance if there were 2 such tragedies in one office. Either something else is responsible or the vaccine needs even more examination. Authorities need to be scrupulously honest or confidence in vaccination will wane.

My partner is a midwife, she feels exactly the same way as you do.

Tough 13 hour shifts, sometimes no break and gets a measly 1% pay rise.

She has 25plus years of service and has seen maternity care gradually eroded over the years, never enough midwives on and too many office bods making decisions without talking to the people who actually know the job.

The pay off is for her is that she can retire at 55 with a damn good pension, something most people in the private sector can only dream about.

Although correct me if I’m wrong newer NHS workers won’t see such benefits.

Yes. I'm really sorry @Webbo I only really knew him to say hello to, but many people I know knew him well, and he will be desperately missed. People are saying what an absolutely great guy he was, everyone who knew him loved him.

Sending love and condolences to you and your family xx
