Is the fine the bribe or is that on top of the bribe?

That's the tip. 10M is literally the equivalent of leaving a couple of quid with the bill to Man City lol

I could be completely wrong but I remember something being made of our finances the season we were promoted. There was definitely a fine we had to pay, from memory.

It isn't just the mega-rich that get away with all sorts.

I remember something to do with the Championship but I thought it was a fuss over nothing? I don't recall our spending being that ridiculous compared to some of the other teams that were in the league at the time and looking to get promoted.

It’s quite touching that people actually cleave to the idea that football has a series of bodies ensuring propriety and governance ( FA, EUFA, CAS, FFP etc)

the whole structure is corrupt and run by self interest and brown envelopes as is demonstrated over and again

That said, Man City’s players are superior to those in the sides who would displace them and probably deserve to play on the international scene .

...that's a strange rationale!!!

Why should we be rewarding a team who have broken the rules to profit from their impropriety?

Irrespective of a teams ability to progress to any great extent with the CL it should not be a factor who they are.

It is as if you were sitting on the CAS board and selecting a team based on their financial wealth than upholding the ethos of the sport.

Corruption at its finest. The safety net is gone, how will the team respond over the next 3 games?

Doesn't make much of a difference to us after last night.

It's the likes of wolves or Sheffield United that can be more annoyed.

Annoying to see them get away with it yeah.

But Wolves owners Fosun have said Nuno has pretty much unlimited funds, its only FFP holding them back. So I wonder if this means the gloves will be off when it comes to spending now.

Plenty of other clubs have the money but have been restricted in using it. Lets see how this changes the playing field.

They might have been digging up the overspending under Sven.

Was always going to happen, although I didn't expect the ban to be completely overturned. Just... wow.

Now that this small matter is out of the way, let's concentrate on battering our three last opponents.

That ain’t gonna happen either ...  the best thing for us now is to avoid the Europa (or whatever it’s called) thing and put all this behind us.  Something about these lockdown matches we don’t like ..  but others are ok with.   If we can keep Chilwell and get a couple of quality additions I’ll be happy.

Onwards and upwards !!

It was predictable. Says a lot about the sport that no one had any faith when they were initially banned.

We simply don’t deserve it though.

This sort of thing just reminds us of how amazing out PL win in 2016 was, because the odds really are stacked against the non big-6 clubs.  It seems they can do exactly what they want and then buy their way out of it.  The smaller clubs can never compete.  Decisions go against us on the pitch with refs usually finding in favour of the big clubs, and off the pitch with the infinite money and disregard of FFP rules.  It makes it all seem a bit pointless,

Because they didn't co-operate with UEFA. It sounds like they already knew they were in the clear so went fvck it, lets take it to CAS.

Appears the main issue with UEFA’s case was that simply the evidence was too old. Punishing Man City for things occurring five years ago

What I always find properly weird is that FFP was designed to stop clubs over spending but yet the punishment for spending to much is to make them spend even more. It’s so counter intuitive

We sold ‘international rights’ to some ghost company registered to a warehouse unit in Sheffield. Was just the right amount to not be punished for overspending.

Not overly dissimilar to the stadium selling which has occurred at Derby and Villa

I honestly meant it as a joke. No way we're getting anything substantial from those games, let alone 9 points.

I know it would be to our detrimental but kind of hope the Newcastle Saudi deal is back on and they blow everyone else out of the water just to mix it up even more.

Football is dead. Ruled by money, cheating ***** and full of overpaid brainless tossers with no loyalty. On top of that you've got our chances of Champions League up in smoke due to self destruction. No one cares about the Europa League, we've messed up big time. The fact they've got away with this, Chelsea got their transfer bam reduced just shows that break the rules and get away with it. I wonder if Wigan appealed their 12 point deducttion they would have the same joy.

Ok, so having listened to the judgement on the radio, am i right in saying that CAS are actually saying that Man City did break the FFP rules, but it`s time barred, and was more than 5 years ago, and so couldn`t be punished by uefa rules, and that the only reason they have a fine at all, is because they didn`t cooperate with uefa investigations.

If so, then uefa are to blame for not keeping on top of their own FFP rules, which should have seen Man City banned for breaking FFP rules years ago!

Oh and a statement by uefa has now said how happy they are with their current FFP rules are and will be continuing as they are.

Is anyone surprised?

The accusation was that they didn't properly communicate with UEFA.... of which there was zero evidence provided by UEFA to that affect.

It was always going to get overturned, and rightly so lol even if they have done something wrong (which they probably have) the case UEFA put together was an absolute joke!

Oh also.... what they actually did was take a bundle of sponsorship money from a private equity firm.... yes they should have been honest about it, but people do realise that for that exact same reason we have a stadium and shirt sponsored by our ****ing owners!! lol

They did, and they are allowed too of course, the problem was they allegedly over egged the true amount of money that was, in order to be able to spend big money and yet stay within the FFP rules

UEFA's Statement:

"UEFA takes note of the decision taken by the Court of Arbitration for Sport to reduce the sanction imposed on Manchester City FC by UEFA’s independent Club Financial Control Body for alleged breaches of the UEFA Club Licensing and Financial Fair Play regulations.

UEFA notes that the CAS panel found that there was insufficient conclusive evidence to uphold all of the CFCB’s conclusions in this specific case and that many of the alleged breaches were time-barred due to the 5 year time period foreseen in the UEFA regulations.

Over the last few years, Financial Fair Play has played a significant role in protecting clubs and helping them become financially sustainable and UEFA and ECA remain committed to its principles.

UEFA will be making no further comments on the matter."

More of a defence of the worth of FFP than anything else.

Writing seems on the wall for these unfair regulations...
