ALC Fox 1,447 Posted 5 November 2020 Report Share Posted 5 November 2020 What a performance. He won everything and put in his usual hardworking shift but, crucially, he looked good on the ball which I think has been his downfall in recent months. If he can keep producing those types of performances, our squad is suddenly looking quite formidable. That sliding cushioned pass back to Schmeichel from about six yards out in the first half. Another player could have easily just toe-poked that straight into the gaping net.
Popular Post Le Renard 183 Posted 6 November 2020 Popular Post Report Share Posted 6 November 2020 I've defended Hamza on this thread and said he's a good player and needs time, although I was concerned Rodgers didn't rate him and maybe he'll leave. I will be glad to be proved wrong on the last point and maybe now some fans will get off his back and realise that he has potential.

Far too often he's been reckless in the challenge, and frankly could have easily been on the end of 3 or 4 red cards already. To top that off, more often than not recently he's not been very good at tracking players, or picking players up that he really should be as a DM. There is plenty of good there, but if you are sat there wondering if he's going to do something silly any moment, it's going to impact you using them.

Marshall Cockney Fox 913 Posted 6 November 2020 Report Share Posted 6 November 2020 He certainly made himself available and wasn't shy of asking for the ball. He was very busy all night. Played well to me. Although his passing is mostly lateral. But with madders & Youri ahead that's okay. I think ultimately for his career to kick on he needs to move to a top championship or lower Prem team. I think now Mendy is boss and wilf is not too far away Hamza might stagnate a bit. That would be a real shame
Popular Post ALC Fox 1,447 Posted 6 November 2020 Popular Post Report Share Posted 6 November 2020 I know we're only three games in and I don't want to get too carried away, but I do think European football can be used to our benefit. If it wasn't for the Europa League, Hamza wouldn't be getting a sniff right now, and it's allowed him to play himself into some form. The same goes for others to different extents, like Kelechi, Albrighton, Thomas, and Under. Obviously injuries play a part in selection too. The rotation keeps certain players fresh (Vardy) and gives other players valuable minutes to (a) increase match sharpness and (b) keep them happy. If Mendy were to pick up a knock now, I'd be more than confident with chucking Hamza back in. Without these Europa League games, I really wouldn't. If BR can keep managing the squad as well as he has been doing, hopefully fringe players can stake their claims for Premier League starts. After all, Harry Kane got his chance in this competition several years ago and hasn't looked back since, despite some underwhelming loan spells away from Spurs (including here). Too often sides look upon this competition as a hindrance, but I'm really starting to see the benefits (maximum points from three games certainly helps). If we can qualify for Europe next season, we have a real chance to build something special, providing we continue to take the competition seriously if it does end up being the Europa League again.
BKLFox 701 Posted 6 November 2020 Report Share Posted 6 November 2020 Yep had a good game last night but he is not the answer to the Qu: If both Mendy and Ndidi were out for a lengthy period who do we play in the DM role. Just yet anyway! He wants to do more and not as disciplined as those 2 in that role, in the 1st half he left his position chasing the ball in the final 3rd which let Braga in 3 or 4 times, in the Premiership they are goals. Nacho said they got a burst at h/t On the defensive side, was probably aimed at Hamza but fair play he knuckled down and had a really good 2nd half

I noticed far fewer risky challenges last match.

Popular Post Hales 1,002 Posted 6 November 2020 Popular Post Report Share Posted 6 November 2020 One thing I love about Hamza is his support to the others. He waits and claps and greets every player back into the changing room at half time and after the match. I really like that about him. Others have improved so much under Brendan's coaching so I hope this is a new beginning for Hamza. He does make me nervous normally but he was brilliant. I hope for him that he can keep it up.

I can see the veins popping out of Klopps neck now and Salah running round with a nervous skip! 😂
