That would be Chituru Odunze, Chibueze joined us in February

Odunze has played 2 games for the under 21s this season, and 4 games for the under 18s

Stolarczyk is the number 1 for the u21s and is often captain, with Odunze fighting it out with Doherty to be on the bench

Ah that’s my bad saw the similar name on the bench and assumed it was him. Strange situation to have a few rated goalkeepers when only one can play each week. Oliver Bosworth won academy player of the year 2 years running too?

I wonder if putting these youth teamers on the bench is a way of advertising them for loans next season? I couldn't see the Thai lad coming on today unless we were 4 up.

they tend to be attacking players which is where we lack the most depth, would like to see Wakeling involved with the first team given his goal scoring record for U23s, especially if we keep starting both Vardy and Nacho

Anyone followed him much in the 23’s?

Came from France last summer right?

He progressively got better throughout the season for the U23's. Scored and assisted a fair few. Is a technical midfielder.

Playing Liverpool in the next round of the FA Youth Cup.

Holders Man City went out yesterday against Everton.

If we win, we'll then play West Ham or Arsenal

What happened to Oliver Bosworth?  Won academy player of the year and never seems to feature anywhere...?!?

Academy player of the year seems to be a cursed title... it didn't work well either for Conor Tee

The lads are playing tonight at Seagrave in an u17's cup match - hope they've got their thermals on!

Will Alves and Chris Popov got some minutes for the U18's at the weekend, stepping up from the U16's.

So we do actually have a youth team that can win games!

The 2004 year seem a good crop but are split across u16s and u18s so we don't often get them playing together as a team. Even if the best u16s play up with the u18s, the best of the 2004's old enough to be in the u18s are often with the u23s! So this is a great competition for us. Semi final here we come.

Leicester City give 'brilliant technician' first-team chance after going toe-to-toe with stars
The Thai-born French youth international impressed Brendan Rodgers in first-team training after catching the eye with his performances for the club's development squad

Young Leicester City midfielder Thanawat Suengchitthawon was granted a first-team chance after matching his senior team-mates in training.

The Thai-born French youth international was named among the substitutes for Saturday’s defeat to Manchester City, becoming the fifth development squad player to be included in a first-team matchday squad this calendar year, after Vontae Daley-Campbell, Sidnei Tavares, Khanya Leshabela, and Shane Flynn.

Suengchitthawon is a “brilliant technician”, according to City manager Brendan Rodgers, who has been taking a closer look at the 21-year-old in first-team training for a couple of months.

Standing shy of 5ft 6ins, Suengchitthawon may not have the physical build to compete with the club’s top players but Rodgers says he has proven he has the ability, and wanted to give his development a small boost with a first taste of senior football.

“You’ll probably have seen a bit of him in the Under-23s.” Rodgers said. “He scored a couple of goals recently against Manchester United.

“He’s an attacking midfield player. He’s a brilliant technician. He’s small in stature, but plays big on the field.

“He has great quality and we see him playing on a daily basis with our top players and he copes and doesn’t look out of place. It’s a little nudge for his development.

“He’s a gifted player. We’ve had a lot of the younger players involved with us, some have had game-time, starting or coming off the bench, and he’s one of the young guys who has been training with us.

“He’s a top player technically so we’ll see how he develops.”

While many of City’s recent graduates from the development squad have come through years of academy football with the club, Suengchitthawon is a recent addition, having arrived from French side AS Nancy on a free transfer last summer.

Born in Thailand, he moved to France as a young boy and earned a place in Nancy’s academy aged 13 after impressing for his local side in the east of the country.

He moved up the age groups and was captaining their reserve side when he was offered a professional deal by City last summer, with Nancy only putting an amateur contract on the table.

At City, the former France Under-17 international has been a regular for Steve Beaglehole’s Under-23s, playing behind the striker or out wide, scoring four goals in 13 appearances, including a brace in a 4-2 win over Manchester United in January. Since February, he has been training with the first team.

“Great to be on the bench of the first team for the first time despite the disappointing result,” Suengchitthawon wrote on social media after Saturday’s game.

Imagine how massive it would be for King Power for us to have a Thai born player regularly in the first team squad, would be a hell of a marketing tool over in Thailand

Shame the LCFC website won’t actually let you put his full name in for shirt printing

Do they still bring Thai lads over to use the academy facilities? Thought it was done as part of some tv show.
