moore_94 3,814 Posted 5 October 2020 Report Share Posted 5 October 2020 However, Leicester fans did get their first glimpse of exciting loan signing Cengiz Under and while it was a difficult debut for the Turkish international there were some glimpses of what he could bring to Rodgers’ attack. Considering they failed to record a shot on target in a Premier League home game for just the third time since 2003-04, Leicester will be hoping Under can provide additional creative spark, especially as Ayoze Perez continues to stutter. Without the injured pairing of James Maddison and Dennis Praet, Leicester struggle to open up deep defences. For starters, the 23-year-old Under demonstrated some of his game he showed at Roma. While considered a wide player, he is not an out-and-out winger. The left-footer played mostly on his preferred right side of the attack in the second half against West Ham, but he hovered around the inside channel rather than hugging the touchline. This is what he did repeatedly at Roma, looking to cut inside regularly to allow the overlapping full-back to provide width. Under likes to play in an inside channel off the right flank, to float between the lines and turn at defences, but he can also play on the left flank and go on the outside of full-backs. Against West Ham on Sunday he did both. Under, who also gives Rodgers a different option on set pieces having swung a free kick into the box with his left foot during his cameo against West Ham, can also play through the middle, including as a lone striker. At Roma he showed the desire to run in behind defences. “We saw in his first few days here his quality,” says Rodgers. “He wants to run, run in behind defences and he is direct. I think it’s going to take him a bit of time to get up to speed but you can see once he takes in the ball it gives us that option from the right side with his left foot coming in where he can be more direct and make those passes. “There’s going to be an adaptation period for him and obviously he needs to get fitter but he’s got quality, we can see that. We’ve seen that at training. The intensity of the games and the way we train is different, but I think that once he gets up his speed physically, he’ll be a really good asset for us especially in those types of games whenever teams are really sat in deep and they’re sunk into their formation. “We need players who can play in between those lines with high-level technique so he’ll help us in that.” There may not have been the fans in the ground to give Under the usual rapturous welcome, but there were enough early signs that Under could win over the Leicester supporters and become a crowd favourite.

He has played a handful of minutes so far and looked pretty good. Just because he isn’t built like Dele Ali doesn’t mean his game suffers. Different shapes aid different styles, maybe the extra size helps his game so he won’t get pushed off the ball. In this day and age I think this is an awful comment to make. Based on the same evidence as you are drawing from - eyesight. You think he looked great? Excellent. Based on the same evidence, I think he looked overweight. It’s an opinion. It’s okay if you don’t share it. But I have a suspicion he’ll be slimmer, if he’s still here after the next pre-season. And if you think that’s an ‘awful comment’, you probably shouldn’t read half the threads on here. Or is it a PC reference to fat-shaming? You realise these are elite athletes who are constantly weighed and set specific diets?? Maybe you should contact the club and tell them that it’s okay to be carrying a few pounds? Popular Post Fox92 11,483 Posted 5 October 2020 Popular Post Report Share Posted 5 October 2020 Fvck me, this has got to be a new low for this place. New signing, from another country, comes on for a little cameo in a game when we were 0-2 down against a defensively sound side (on the day). The only thing that annoyed me was his dive. He deserved a booking.

He performed well so weight shouldn’t be an issue and it is sad that is the only thing you reached for.

Oh and I'm sure he was responsible for the new training site being delayed too!
fox in the sox 89 Posted 5 October 2020 Report Share Posted 5 October 2020 Mother Sox has been watching City for 60 years and her opinions on players/managers tend to be right. She says that he looks well off Premier League standard and would be surprised if we end up buying him. Only time will tell!

volpeazzurro 3,478 Posted 6 October 2020 Report Share Posted 6 October 2020 That Maradona was a chunky little fella. A couple of bags up his nose did him the world of good 🤣. He wasn't a bad player. Footballers naturally come in all shapes and sizes. As for Under, it's a while since he's had the opportunity, following injury, to fully show what he could do at Roma and also because of the emergence of a certain other player. We can see how hungry Soyuncu is and I don't think his friend will be any different, I think he'll be busting a gut and wanting to grab his opportunity with both hands. He had just a few minutes in a losing, disjointed underperforming team, yet some expected him to turn into Marhez overnight! He did absolutely fine all things considered. There's a lot of talent in there but he needs to be given time and a bit of understanding. I don't know whether he can speak the language but it's a big move for a young lad. New club, new culture, new boss, new friends. I think he could be a little gem and offers something completely different from what we've currently got, he needs a bit of space and time to learn and train under his new coach that's all.
