Put this is in the other thread but will copy it here too.

Pleased for Barnes and very surprised. I know he's just come back from injury but Southgate really doesn't like Maddison does he. He can't decide which defenders to pick so he just picks loads of them.

Bound to be a number of withdrawals as usual, Spurs players in particular.

Southgate still mardy about the casino incident.

We're so shit at the moment and missing so many that this should really just be a procession. Plus it's a friendly with no fans.

You should just play all the debutants, play Barnes, DCL, etc. I mean if you can't then then when can you?

Because we've got a PE teacher in charge who'll play his favourites regardless of if they're in form or even the right position.

Fair play to the lad hes pushed on again this season so far and looks very dangerous on the ball.

Prediction he will score 2 great goals V west ham this weekend and miss a further 6 1 on 1 sitters.

Fair play to him, reward for his clear progress.

In all honesty I don't think he's quite good enough just yet, but he's not far off. Slight improvements to his final ball and finishing and he's a top player.

Not having Maddison in that expanded squad is ****ing obnoxious mind.

According to the Sky 'experts' he's one of Burnley's own.

Just read on Wiki he was born in Burnley but grew up in Leicester.

I also read he has Scottish Grandparents I'm amazed they've not been sniffing round him.

He’s as much “Burnley” as Andy King is Welsh

Proper stoked for him! So pleased!

he works hard and puts in so much effort on the pitch. England team could really benefit from his urgency!

Hope he gets some minutes!!

Considering his dad played for Burnley he was probably just born there.

We've already tried apparently but were swiftly knocked back as he was focused on the England team.

Apparently he was one that Steve Clarke had his eye on.

Slightly surprised but his form in the first three games of the season has been good.

Hopefully this call up gives him more confidence to kick on, after a very inconsistent 19/20 season.

The early signs are there that improvements are starting to show.
