I would prioritise a Europa League or FA Cup win way above a top 4 finish. You don't win anything for finishing top 4. We possibly have our best ever squad and arguably manager at the moment and in 20 years time you want to be talking about what they won, not that they finished 2nd, 3rd or 4th like we do with quite a few of our great historic teams.
North Leeds Fox 565 Posted 20 January Report Share Posted 20 January Personally would rest a few players that have played a lot this season. We have a huge game vs Everton Wednesday. Would like us to go for this competition, even though top 4 would allow us a better squad going forward to be able to manage 3 competitions more effectively. We can make 5 subs so we can have the likes of Justin, fofana, hamza if needed, I would go with: Kasper Ricardo Evans Soyuncu Thomas Mendy Tielemans Under Barnes Perez Nacho

deanolegend1989 855 Posted 20 January Report Share Posted 20 January (edited) I think BR made a huge mistake playing such a strong team vs Stoke and injuring Praet in the process IF we then play a weak team and lose here. We have to go for it now or it all seems pointless. We got through, and got a very decent draw, it’s absolutely asinine to throw this now. To the people who will say ‘we can’t cope with the schedule in 3 comps’ I totally agree! However if this is the case , we should of ‘gambled’ vs Stoke and put a weak team out with the likes of Hamza, Mendy, Thomas, Fuchs etc then save our team if we are just going to throw it away now anyway. Brentford are a lot better and more attacking the Stoke, we will lose if we have a spine like that. Edit: How I see it is, play a stronger team, if we get even 1-0 up , take off our spine and try and grind through. Again a better option than starting weak, inevitably going 1-0 down, then bringing on the big boys anyway, risking them in the process. pmcla26 2,185 Posted 20 January Report Share Posted 20 January I'd like to see Wakeling on the bench, I'm not bothered about the FA cup this year as top 4 and Europa are priority. His finish against Man United the other night was brilliant, be nice to see if we can promote from within before going all out in the summer on a striker. Although, I expect Nacho and Perez getting game time is a bigger priority.

LVocey 96 Posted 20 January Report Share Posted 20 January Tricky match at Everton only a few days after, I think we have reached the stage of prioritising other competitions over this. Ward Ricardo Amartey Soyuncu Fuchs Thomas Mendy Hamza Under Perez Iheanacho Lets be honest, that should still have the quality to win, as much as I really like how Brentford play. Castagne to come on for Ricardo after 45/60. Vardy, Youri & Barnes on the bench alongside some other youngsters.

They also went to the playoff final last season. We may expect to rest some regulars, which will likely increase the competitiveness of the match. They have a good squad, but losing Benrahma and Watkins makes them somewhat weaker than last season I feel.

Marshall Cockney Fox 916 Posted 20 January Report Share Posted 20 January I think we have plenty of options. We can keep 4 or 5 of yesterdays first team and fill from the sub bench. Not all of the lads need a rest. Remember some of them had significant time out early season so should be far from burnt out. I'd rest JJ, Youri, Vards Sharkey & both CBs. The rest can play. Exactly this! It makes absolutely no sense 🤣. Think BR will go strong or it just doesn’t make logical sense. I think as long as we rest Vardy and Evans , no one else really has a huge excuse of fitness. There mid 20s or lower so should be ok to do at least 60 mins!
