Popular Post Osavo 266 Posted 3 March Popular Post Report Share Posted 3 March Honestly some of the whinging on here in response to the lineup is embarrassing. Yes, we are well aware that's not our best team, we are ravaged by injuries to our best players in every position on the pitch. What else did you actually expect? I think that, given the circumstances, that's about as well as we could have done. Let's just wait and see how it goes, eh.

I don't care how we do it, we need to win to keep me sane tonight. I’ve changed it for you. We had a tough time winning before the line up, now we have 0 chance of winning. Brendan has set up a line up to not lose so it’ll be 0-0 0-1 0-2 depending how Burnley play. Well done Brendan 🙌 Edited 3 March by deanolegend1989

All I personally would ask is round pegs round holes and no already failed experiments. So: 1. If any 2 of Soyuncu, Evans or Armarty fit, no bloody Ndidi at centre half, it's a total waste of our best midfielder and totally unnecessary. 2. No bloody Ricardo on the right wing. He's not got explosive pace (excellent pace running from deep), can't dribble sufficiently, no tricks. Absolutely a typical not to top standard winger/midfielder turned into one of the best wing backs in the Premiership if not further a field, don't nullify his talents on a clever thinking whim. If Under is in front of him for example then arguably he could flourish also in the knowledge that there is a hugely competent defender behind him rather than a makeshift. A back 4 of Ricardo, Evans, Soyuncu and Castagne (or Armarty if Evans out) is as good as anyone else is fielding at the moment. Re point 2. Ricardo just ain’t fit yet, hence why you ain’t seeing the explosive pace and tricks. Think you’ve forgotten how he’s played before injury. Have to agree though I’d rather see him playing in his best position long-term but he’s our best option on the right at the minute.
jeffschlupp 1,806 Posted 3 March Report Share Posted 3 March I wish he'd take a risk from the start. What is the point of waiting until 60 minutes to bring on Tavares or Under when Burnley are then going to move into 'shut up shop' mode and drop even deeper than they were in the first hour. We all know how this is going to go, and it's not going to be pretty viewing.

oxtonfox 518 Posted 3 March Report Share Posted 3 March (edited) Blimey that line up is as narrow as pin-stripes on a suit. Will we get outside of the width of the penalty box? I am surprised he didnt chuck in Daley-Campbell and Sidnei T. to provide some energy and movement. Not confident with this - it's like Rodgers is shrugging and saying "what do you expect?" to the board. Have some courage man - play the youngsters and rest our valuable assets. Burnley are smelling blood I guess. Edited 3 March by oxtonfox sp

The worry I have, is that that line up, despite being enforced is going to make this a tight slog of a game, and that's exactly what Burnley will want. Open games suit us as we usually have the quality to punish teams. Tight games are Burnley's dream. We need an early goal I think.

Fox92 12,071 Posted 3 March Report Share Posted 3 March Not sure what else he can do. At least we've (hopefully) got 2 up front and Vardy has been isolated since Villa 2nd half. Just a shame we can't dip into the reserves and pick a few players out.
