Ricey Posted 30 July 2004 Author Share Posted 30 July 2004 9th August 2004 - Coca-Cola Championship - West Ham Utd 0-1 Leicester City We scrapped out narrow win at a sunny Upton Park in a televised afternoon match on the opening day. The first half was action packed but both sets of strikers missed good chances, David Connolly wasn't having the best of times against his old club. Pre-season training took its toll on the players as 4 players were strecthered off in total, only one for us. We looked most dangerous from set pieces and it was a corner that broke the dead lock, Connolly wipped in a corner and Peter Canero stooped low to head in from close range! We hung on for a superb victory against the title favourites. 13th August 2004 - Carling Cup 1st Round - Leicester City 1-0 Coventry City Totally dominated the whole match but it took a Dion Dublin goal on 70 mins to win the match. Jason Wilcox crossed into the box where Dublin powered a header at goal which was saved by Bosnich, Dublin then pounced to tap in the rebound. 16th August 2004 - Draw Norwich at Carrow Road in the Carling Cup 2nd Round. 16th August 2004 - Coca-Cola Championship - Leicester City 1-1 Stoke City A very tired performance from us. We were by far the better side but couldn't break Stoke down in the final third. Stoke took the lead early on and on the hour Jason Wilcox headed home a Connolly cross to draw level. That's how it stayed though despite a lot of pressure. A lot of work to be done and not the best way to kick things off at the Walkers Stadium. Diawara then headed us back in the lead with 26 mins gone but a 65th minute Beattie strike meant extra time would be played with the scoes at 2-2. We remain top of te league 1st December 2004 - Alvito D'Cunha from East Bengal signs a pre-contract deal to sign for us, he will join on a free on the 2nd May. He can play upfront, behind the front 2, on the left wing or in midfield. 3rd December 2004 - Carling Cup 4th Round - Wolves 1-2 Leicester City Another entertaining Carling Cup game that we managed to sneak. Wolves controlled much of the game against our injury hit side but in the 55th minute Lescott was sent off for Wolves, this opened up the game and we had bucket loads of chances. Almost immediately David Connolly hit the equalizer after the keeper went walkabouts. We then attacked and attacked but some how the ball managed to stay out of the net, I even resorted to playing a 3-2-5 formation! 2 minutes into stoppage time Jordan Stewart hammered in a shot into the top corner to send us in the quarter finals! Ricey Posted 8 August 2004 Author Share Posted 8 August 2004 17th January 2005 - Coca-Cola Championship - Rotherham Utd 2-0 Leicester City Played rubbish and rightly lost the match 21st January 2005 - Carling Cup Semi-Final 1st leg - Hull City 2-0 Leicester City Bugger! Bad performance from us and Hull took advantage of that. We couldn't score no matter how hard we tried and we now have mountain to climb if we want to reach the Final. 24th January 2005 - FA Cup 4th Round - Leicester City 8-1 Bristol City Bloody hell! We ran riot against Bristol City blasting 8 past them, 8 great goals at that aswell. Tommy Wright grabbed a amazing 4 goals and Canero, Nalis, Williams and Stewart got a goal each. A good moral bosster for the squad and fans. 28th January 2005 - Coca-Cola Championship - Leicester City 2-0 Reading Easy victory in the end for us and we further increase our lead at the top. Djinril Diawara and Tommy Wright got the goals. 30th January 2005 - Sold Jamie Scowcroft to Middlesbrough for £1.5m....I bit their hands off! He wasn't getting in here and wasn't in my plans so £1.5m for him is excellent 31st January 2005 - Coca-Cola Championship - Nottingham Forest 0-0 Leicester City Neither side could find a way through 2 tough defences. 2 points dropped. 4th February 2005 - Carling Cup Semi-Final 2nd leg - Leicester City 6-1 Hull City Hell yeah! We showed Peter Taylor how to win a match and totally hammered Hull to remarkabley put us in the Final of the Carling Cup to face Tottenham! It was looking bleak going into half time, we needed to win by 3 goals or more to send us through and with mintutes left of the first half it was still 0-0. However too close range tap ins from Connolly and Williams in stoppage time sent us into the break 2-0 up and level on aggeregate. Early in the second half things turned bleak again, Walters scored a away goal for Hull meaning we would now require another 2 goals to go through. Cue David Connolly to superbly plant home 3 goals in the space of 13 minutes to secure our place in the final! Peter Canero then made it 6 to further embarrass Hull. Good nights work :: 7th February 2005 - Coca-Cola Championship - Leicester City 3-0 Leeds United A great display from us to beat Leeds. Diawara, Dublin and of course Connolly scored our goals to send us 10 points clear at the top with a game in hand. 14th February 2005 - FA Cup 5th Round - Tottenham Hotspur 3-0 Leicester City In a dress rehearshal for the League Cup Final we were beaten convincley by Spurs to knock us out of the FA Cup. We never threatened and it's going to be very hard to beat Spurs in Cardiff at the end of the month. Current Championship League Table

Ricey Posted 8 August 2004 Author Share Posted 8 August 2004 18th February 2005 - Coca-Cola Championship - Leicester City 2-1 Gillingham We were made to work for the 3 points but goals from Jordan Stewart and Dion Dublin gave us the win. 21st February 2005 - Coca-Cola Championship - Ipswich Town 0-3 Leicester City A Tommy Wright brace and a Jason Wilcox tap in secured a eay victory at Portman Road. 25th February 2005 - Coca-Cola Championship - Preston NE 2-3 Leicester City I fielded a weakened side with just 4 days before the Carling Cup Final. We however did take a 3-0 lead with goals from Canero and 2 from Wright. Preston pulled 2 back late on. Bring on the Spurs! 29th February 2005 - Carling Cup Final at the Millennuim Stadium The roof was over at the Millennuim Stadium in Cardiff for the League Cup Final between Championship leaders Leicester and Premiership 2nd placed side Tottenham. Teams: LEICESTER CITY (442) - Walker, Tiatto, Dabizas, Diawara, Makin, Stewart, Nalis, Williams, Connolly, Dublin TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR (442) - Robinson, Rullo, Gardner, Doherty, Kelly, Fortune, Davis, Mendes, Davies, Defoe, Keane Clockwatch: 3 mins - Defoe breaks clear of Dabizas and cheekily loads the ball over Ian Walker into the net to put Spurs ahead early on! Leicester 0-1 Tottenham 15 mins - Defoe breaks clear again and only has Walker to beat but somehow Dabizas chases back to superbly tackle Defoe and clear it 18 mins - Chris Makin whips in a low ball which Canero swings a leg at, the ball goes zipping over the bar. 19 mins - From the resulting goal kick Tottenham launch a attack. Keane swings in a cross into the area which is headed away, only as far as Pedro Mendes who half volleys a stunning strike into the top corner! Leicester 0-2 Tottenham 31 mins - Mendes nearly makes it 3 but he shoots over from a corner 34 mins - Defore fires over, Tottenham are looking dangerous 35 mins - Dublin heads the ball from a goal kick to Connolly who is free in the area! His shot hits Robinson and is cleared, Connolly is clattered by a defender and drops to the ground in pain. He is later carried off holding his thigh, massive blow for Leicester when they need goals 40 mins - Dion Dublin powers a header straight at Robinson and it's cleared 44 mins - Dion Dublin is pushed over just inside the area by Gardner, the referee points at the spot! 45 mins - Dion Dublin picks himself up to take the kick. He stepped up and............placed it to the right of Robinson and into the net! Leicester 1-2 Tottenham HALF TIME 79 mins - Tottenham play a superb defensive keep ball game and we can't get a shot on goal for love nor money! The first shot for either side of the second half is a Yeates shot for Spurs which goes straight to Walker. 80 mins - Dion Dublin has a free header from a Wright cross, but he heads it straight at Robinson! Leicester are so desperate for that equalizer 90 mins - Diawara plays through Tommy Wright in the area, he has time and space and just the keeper to beat........but he waits too long and Robinson is able to clear. A great chance wasted for Leicester FULL TIME Nevermind We played well and battled hard but Spurs were simply too strong in every area. It's been a great cup run though and good to get into the final.
